Moving a User From One Organizational Unit to

Another
Problem
How do you move a user from one organizational unit to another within a hierarchy. For
example, Jane Doe left a position in Marketing for a position in ales within the !cme
corporation. Her current "D is Jane Doe#Marketing#!cme and now needs to $e Jane
Doe#ales#!cme.
Solution
%here are two parts to moving a user name&
'. (e)uest the move using the originating certifier.
*. +omplete the move $y using the target ,new- certifier to approve the re)uest and issue
the new certificate.
%o rename the user to a new ./ do the following&

7. From the tools pane, click 4eople 8 (ename.

change that value if desired.

'6. .nce you choose ena$le you have the option of letting the agent run and at the next interval
or run it yourself $y right clicking on the agent and choosing run.
'7. .pen the admin7.nsf data$ase and go to the (e)uestsF>ame Move (e)uests view.
'9. Highlight the user and select +omplete Move for selected entries from the !ctions menu or
the $utton. ,%his agent takes a while to run so give it time-
'=. "t will then ask you for a cert id. +hoose the new one that the user is $eing moved to.
'?. 0nter the relevant information and press 1.A1.
'B. (efresh the admin7.nsf data$ase and you will see the completed re)uest.
'D. !t the Domino server console issue 3tell adminp process all3
*E. Have the user hit F9 to logout of >otes. %he user should then reauthenticate with the server.
Ghen the user is prompted for their password the new hierarchical name will display in the
password dialog $ox under 1For user&1
