One Brighton is a 157,584 square foot mixed-use development in Brighton, UK completed in 2010. It was designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and is the first One Planet Living community achieved. The project proves that large scale residential buildings can be sustainable and provide high quality living with significantly reduced carbon footprints. BedZED is a 15,120 square foot mixed-use development in Hackbridge, London completed in 2002. It was designed by Bill Dunster Architects and focuses on passive design strategies like wind cowls and PV cells, as well as active systems like a living machine and CHP plant. The project demonstrates concepts of form, density and support for sustainable urban design.
