Assembling the Hardware
irst to use the board!
In most cases "ou do not need to use an" additional boot devices# as
"ou can boot the $outer%&'$( from the onboard )')( memor"* &n
$%+,- build "ou can also install a Compactlash module or Microdrive
drive# which can be used as an alternative boot device or an additional
storage medium* Warning! The RouterBOAR 5!! series does
not su""ort hot insert o# $om"act%lash&'icrodri(e de(ices*
MiniPCI soc.et* /here is also one MiniPCI soc.et on the other side of
the board*
&ne of the $outer%&'$( +00 (aughterboard options (ordered
separatel") ma" be secured on top of the main board*
Configure 1umpers* /he board should have 2 1umpers alread" set in
some positions* %e ver" careful setting the 1umpers as "ou can
permanentl" damage the board should "ou set them incorrectl"* /he
3umper Index of the 4ser5s manual describes all possible 1umper
positions* /he most important ones are described further on*
Install the board in a case and connect other peripherals and cables*
Plug in power cable to turn on the board*
)owering
3P, and 3P2 choose input voltage (1*2 for -+**+67 (C# 2*3 for 6**--7 (C)* %ecause of wire
resistance# PoE re8uires higher voltage (it is recommended to use 997 minimum)* )ote that
the $%+99:+9- build versions do not accept -+**+67 (C powering* $A+T,O-! ,# .)3 and
.)/ are switched to the 2*3 "osition0 and a higher (oltage 1e2g2 /3V4 "ower ada"ter

the 1*2 position) accepts 6 to -- 7 or -+ to +6 7 (C
depending on the position of 3P, and 3P2

be switched to the 2*3 position) accepts 9-7 or 2>7 (C
powering depending on the position of 3P, and 3P2* -ote:

some null=modem cables do not implement or implement incompletel" the hardware ($/;:C/;) flow control# so it is
suggested to tr" to disable hardware flow control in the terminal emulation program in case the serial console does not wor.

/he first Ethernet port is compatible with IEEE>0-*,af Power over Ethernet standard and passive PoE (non=standard)* /he
board accepts either 9- or 2> 7 (C input voltage according to the configuration (see Powering section of this manual on how
to choose the PoE option and select voltage)* /he second and third Ethernet ports ($%+,- build option onl") do not support
