Although they worked together intensively as members of the

1958-59 Miles Davis Sextet (also featuring John Coltrane in the
frontline), Cannonball Adderley and Bill Evans only collaborated
on three projects together without Miles. While this release prsents all three of them in their entirety, along with every known
alternate take from the sessions, it is focused on their small
group albums. These consists of Portrait of Cannonball (Riverside
RLP12-269), and Know What I Mean? (Riverside R9-433). Their third
collaboration, recorded in a larger band format and included here
as a bonus, was Jump for Joy (EmArcy MG36146), which presents
the musicians performing a Duke Ellington score for the eponymous stage show.

Williams from the soundtrack of the now forgotten Checkmate

these albums - Round About Midnight,
Miles Ahead (both 1957), Milestones
(1958), Porgy And Bess, Kind Of Blue
(both 1959), Sketches Of Spain (1960) and
Someday My Prince Will Come (1961) are familiar classics which saw Miles rise
to prominence as an architect of the hard
bop style of jazz before revolutionizing
the genre with ventures into modal jazz.
Of these, Milestones and Kind of Blue remain among the most universally recognized jazz recordings in the world.

Each CD, newly remastered, will be housed in a mini-LP replica jacket, faithfully
replicating the original LP sleeves. They will be packed in a casemade slipcase
which will also hold a 40-page booklet with a brand-new essay. This is the true

This release contains an extremely rare show presenting the great Nat King Cole performing live in Tokyo, Japan, in February
of 1963. He is backed on some tracks by a local orchestra, while on others he is showcased on piano with his classic trio
(featuring John Collins on guitar, Charlie Harris on bass, Leon Petties on drums, plus Reunald Jones on trumpet). The program
includes rare items, like the only known live performances of four songs Nat had recorded on his albums sung in Spanish, and
versions of Autumn Leaves and Love Is a Many Splendored Thing on which he sings the lyrics in Japanese. A very similar
show recorded shortly after in London (and featuring very similar personnel) has been added here as a bonus.

set - - all known 1961 performances by the celebrated
Ahmad Jamal Trio with Israel Crosby and Vernel Fournier at the Spotlite Clib. Including two rare tracks, Too
Late Now and The Night Has A Thousand Eyes, which
escaped release on the original LPs. The Spotlite performances were originally issued on three LPs, Ahmad
Jamals Stereo Odyssey (Argo LPS-636), Poinciana (Argo
LPS.719) and Portfolio of Ahmad Jamal (Argo LPS-2638).
Three extra studio tunes from the same period originally
released on 45 rpm singles habe been added as a bonus. This formation of the group wouldnt last long, as
Israel Crosby died in mid-1962.
