__Interview: TV Broadcast__
Nancy Binay, one of the most controversial candidate of this years
senatorial race, had her first live interview with Pinky Webb of
Mornings@ANC. It is a one-on-one interview that tackles the background and
plans of Nancy Binay once she is elected as a senator.
Pinky Webb started the interview with a greeting and a little personal
background of Nancy Binay. She is the eldest among the Binay siblings but
her brother, JunJun Binay, was the first Binay sibling to be elected as a
government official. Nancy was the third Binay who ran for a government
position. On the other hand, Pinky had established a rapport throughout the
interview by asking questions that interests her interviewee, Nancy Binay. It
can be observed that Nancy Binay had confidence and paid a total attention
to the questions given by Pinky which makes the flow of the interview
continuous. Also, the tone of the interview was made during Pinkys opening
or introduction of Nancy Binay. The tone of the interview, which is both lively
and informative, was constant all throughout the interview.
Unlike any other interview, Pinky directed immediately to the point. Her
questions were, mostly, about the issues concerning Nancy Binay and her
accidental senatorial application. During this questions, Nancy stayed as
calm as possible. She cleared the accusations revolving her senatorial
application. She said that she was inducted to the UNA Party when Joey De
Venecia, the suppose senatorial candidate, backed out during the last
minute. So, the UNA Party decided to induct her as their running mate. Other
questions like, why, at first, her father didnt agree with her plans to run as a
senator was also asked. Nancy believed that his father is just going to miss
her once she wins as a senator. She also added that there is no other issue
concerned in that problem. Also, she was asked about her insights in political

dynasty. There is nothing wrong with political dynasty. It is the people who
will vote., she said.

Based on the questions given by Pinky, the viewers were able to gather
or get enough information about Nancy that will help her boost her numbers
in the race. Everything was said and answered clearly and continuously for
the viewers benefit. Also, it can be observed that Pinky had maintained
gradual neutrality against Nancy Binay. No personal feelings from Pinky were
established during the interview making Nancy Binay confident enough to
answer her questions.
Pinky had signalled the closing interview with a question. She asked
Nancy if she is confident that she will win. She immediately answered that
she is still unsure of anything. She still thinks that somehow there is a
chance of losing and winning in this race that makes her unconfident. She
also stated that, unlikely, turn of events might happen throughout the race.
Pinky bid goodbye with a goodluck and a thank you for accepting their
invitation. On the other hand, Nancy Binay bid a goodbye with a humorous
smile and a thank you.
For what Ive observed, Pinky conducted the interview very. She was
able to bring the confidence out of Nancy Binay through her not-sointimidating questions. Also, she had put aside her personal feelings and
emotions that makes her an effective interviewee. Nancy Binay also helped
the interview to be easy by answering the questions direct to the point.
Ive learned that Nancy Binays accidental application issue have
reasons. But I think, this king of issues will just add a fuel to the fire. The
people will learn that Nancy Binay is just an exchange senatorial candidate
incapable of providing a proper service to the Filipinos.
Also, Ive learned that in conducting interviews, one must be an
effective interviewer. The interviewee must not lose their interest with the
topic. The mood or tone from the start must be constant throughout the
interviews. Emotions and feeling must also be put aside during interviews.
