Part II. Reflective learning


Name of activity: Epi Info 7
Date of activity: June 16, 2014
What did I learn?
I was able to re-learn surveying the community again in a much more detailed and
organized manner
What was my contribution to the activity?
We divided our group to perform different tasks in order to make the work faster.
My partner and I were assigned to formulate possible survey question in a part of
our own questionnaire form.

What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?


It was difficult to formulate questions that would really be specific but then
understandable to those who will be taking or answering our survey
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?
I overcame this problem thanks to some background knowledge that I had from my
undergrad course and also through the help of my groupmates who were allknowing about it.

Date of activity: June 23, 2014
What did I learn?
Our group learned something about our community, Brgy Munting Ilog, Silang,
Cavite
What was my contribution to the activity?

I contributed in gathering data in our survey

What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?


No difficulties were encountered
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?

Name of activity: Epi Info 7


Date of activity: June 30, 2014
What did I learn?
Mostly I learned how to at least manage the program in terms of creatings survey
forms, entering some data in the finished survey forms, and performing different
functions for statistical data to be entered as tables and graphs
What was my contribution to the activity?
The creation of our groups household survey form.

What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?


At first I was having some difficulty in creating the survey form because it was the
first time for me to use the application. Also with what functions to use with certain
variables to be able to create the right tables and graphs.
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?
Fortunately I have a background on computer programs regarding statistics and
applied it on the epi info 7 program. In addition to that, I asked a lot of questions
from the preceptor for me to be able to understand better than just reading the
manual alone.

Name of activity: Input of Community Data in Epi Info 7


Date of activity: July 7, 2014

What did I learn?


Learned how to properly input the data on hand into the survey form.
What was my contribution to the activity?
I inputted the data into the program and studied how the program worked with it.
What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?
At first it was hard, because I didnt understand how the program worked because it
was too complexed for me at the time.
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?
I carefully studied the manual for it as fast as I can and listened for the instructions
our preceptor was telling.

Name of activity: problem Prioritization and Problem tree


Date of activity: July 14, 2014
What did I learn?
I learned how to prioritize a certain problem of the community which will take a
unanymous decision from all our groupmates
What was my contribution to the activity?
I contributed some of the ideas on what problems our community might have and
tried to rank them according to their importance to the community.

What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?


It was difficult to choose which problems would be more prioritized with the other
problems because they all seemed quite important to the community.
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?
We tried to cut them down one by one on how attainable they are, how long itll
take, and the like. With this kind of system, it would be easier to prioritize the
problems.

Name of activity: Planning for FGD


Date of activity: July 21, 2014
What did I learn?
I learned how to organize and plan for an FGD for a community.

What was my contribution to the activity?


I helped in coming up with ideas on how to do the FGD, whether if wed be doing it
in a formal setup or a fun and entertaining one.

What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?


I had trouble in figuring out how we could make some parts more entertaining yet
understandable by the community and not just boring them with formal lectures

How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?


I overcame this by brainstorming with other groupmates, and incorporating different
ideas and mold it into one.

Name of activity: Focused Group Discussion


Date of activity: August 11, 2014
What did I learn?
I learned how to apply and integrate our plans for the FGD and make it into a
presentation that was entertaining, and not boring, yet fruitful.

What was my contribution to the activity?


I was one of the presentors for our group and discussed some graphs and
interpretations of it for our community.
What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?
I had difficulty of interpreting the graphs and what it would really mean for the

community.

How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?


I overcame this by listening to the comments of our preceptors and make it better
next time.

Name of activity: Health Education Activity


Date of activity: September 1, 2014
What did I learn?
I learned how to properly present information to the community. We educated the
community in such a way that it wont be boring.
What was my contribution to the activity?
I helped in coming up with some concepts for our play. I also helped in the
preparation of some materials/props needed for the activity.
What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?
No difficulties encountered
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?
Name of activity: Oral Presentation
Date of activity: September 22, 2014
What did I learn?
I learned how to present properly the data given to us and the interpretation of data
must be correlated with the communitys condition.
What was my contribution to the activity?
I was one of the reporters for this activity, and also contributed to some parts in the
recommendations.
What difficulties did I encounter in the activity?
I had diffculty in coming up with recommendations that were appropriate to the
condition or situation of the community.
How did I overcome the difficulties encountered?

I overcame this by trying to correlate everything and to see what is more inportant
and to be able to have recommendations that would encourage the community to
move by their own and not just rely on students like us.
