Following are the steps an expert might take to complete this lab:

Click Start/Control Panel.


Select to view by Small icons.
Click Windows Defender.
Click Tools
Under Settings, click Options.
To allow Windows Defender to scan the computer automatically, make sure Automatically scan my
computer (recommended) is selected.
7. With automatic scanning enabled, configure the following:
Frequency Configure scanning to occur daily or on a specific week day.
Approximate time Configure a time for scanning to occur.
Type Configure the type of scan you want to perform (a quick scan checks the areas of the
computer spyware is likely to affect, and a full scan checks all files and programs on the computer).
8. To make sure definitions are up-to-date prior to a scan, select Check for updated definitions before
scanning.

9. In the left-side menu, click Default actions.
10. Configure the actions to take for each class of threat detected. Select Apply recommended actions to
apply actions when items are detected.
11. In the left-side menu, click Advanced.
12. Configure Advanced options as required.
13. In the left-side menu, click Administrator.
14. Configure Administrator options as required.
15. Click Save.
16. Click Scan to run a Quick Scan now.
