Bosannya Buat Repot

This document is a laboratory report for an experiment identifying group II cations. The experiment tested solutions of Hg2+, Bi3+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Sn2+, and Sn4+ using ammonia, sodium hydroxide, potassium iodide, potassium chromate, and mercury(II) chloride. Observations were recorded and two unknown solutions, B1 and B2, were tested to identify their cations. The objective was to identify the group II cations in various solutions through a series of qualitative tests.

4.1.2
4.1.3

4.1.4
4.1.5
4.1.6

A small amount of ammonia solution was added (drop wised) into the
sample. Then, an excess amount of ammonia was added.
A small amount of NaOH solution was added (drop wised) into the
sample. Then, an excess amount of NaOH was added.
A small amount of potassium iodide, KI solution was added (drop
wised) into the sample. Then, an excess amount of the reagent was
added.
A small amount of potassium chromate, K2CrO4 was added into the
sample. Then, an excess amount of the reagent was added.
For Sn2+ and Sn4+ only. Some mercury (II) chloride, HgCl2 solution was
added into the sample.
The solutions were observed, and the observations were recorded in a
table.

4.2 Part B: Identification of the Cations Present in Unknown Samples.

4.2.1

The tests as in Part A was carried out on Solution B1 and Solution B2.

4.2.2 The cation present in each solution was identified.
