QAR Lesson

This lesson plan teaches 10th grade students how to summarize informational text using the Question Answer Relationship (QAR) strategy. Students will review QAR question types and practice applying them to summarize two articles. They will write a summary independently and complete a self-reflection. The goals are for students to independently summarize text through understanding effective questioning with QAR. The teacher will guide the class through modeling QAR, have students work independently, and encourage engagement by being available to assist and prompt questions during independent work time.
