Pros and Cons of using Technology to Facilitate Learning
Using technology in the classroom to facilitate learning is immeasurable. Teachers are
able to build, utilize and custom assignments to meet the needs of every student in the classroom.
Resources designed to enhance the learning experience making it fun, engaging and effective.
Information can be shared beyond the classroom and abroad with most technological tools and
devices as long as there is available wifi and internet services. Through collaboratively sharing
knowledge, students also recognize the value and important of different perspectives (Beach,
2012). Technology is increasing and every student benefits from some form of connectivity.
Whether it is learning, gaming or informational; technology is needed in the classroom and at
home for supplementation where extra help is evident.
Technology as we know it is shifting from recall and repeat to find and evaluate. The
generation of educators today must teach critical thinking skills, problem solving and interaction
through media and technology to compete within the new age.
Although everything is technology centered, there are risks associated like division. What
happens with the individual that has no device he/she can use at home or school? Is everyone
supplemented? There are even greater risks with cheating on assignments because students have
available and easy access to the internet. Children are easily distracted with the internet and may
be tempted to visit other sites while in the classroom. Provide in-text citations and references of
research to support your statements.)Detail the pros and cons of using technology to facilitate
learning. Describe how technology will impact your classroom. Must be written in paragraph
format, bullet points are not allowed.
