Notes For Romantic (Radical) Design

This document discusses radical design in education. Radical design opposes the current curriculum design and fights for education as a tool for social reform that makes learners critical thinkers. It is driven by a vision for a better, more just and equal society. The document outlines the views of two radical curricularists - Jurgen Habermas and Paulo Friere. They critique traditional knowledge and believe education should be personalized to learner interests, needs, and opinions. Habermas sees the learner as the most important agent who has a right to democratic participation in their education. Friere challenges the oppressed to question inequities and advocates replacing the traditional "banking model" of education with dialogue between teachers and students.
