This document provides instructions to clear faults and restart a 90-30 PLC using the StartS90 program: 1) Insert the floppy disk and reboot the HMI to launch StartS90 2) Select COM1 and press Enter to connect to the PLC 3) Select the PLC Table and press Enter to clear any faults 4) Select State and choose Run w/I/O, pressing Enter to restart the PLC in Run mode 5) Remove the floppy disk and power cycle the machine to complete the restart

- Reboot the HMI from drive A by power cycling the machine.

StartS90 has been developed by GE Fanuc Tech Support to
restart Series 90

PLC's that have stopped with faults. The program shows COM
ports with I/O

address and UART chip at the upper right (or shows


defaults for Windows NT)
You can select any port by pressing the <Left> or <Right>
arrow keys on the
first line or by entering a highlighted digit (1 to 4)
shown at the right.

Press the <Enter> key to connect to a PLC using standard


SNP at 19,200/Odd.
You can also press the <Down> or <Up> arrows to select
lines below to change
Data Rate, Parity or to enter an SNP ID (up to 7
characters) for multidrop.
Press the <Tab>, <Left> or <Right> arrows on any line to
change any values.
Loop Back checks out port and cable while the AutoDetect
tries all speeds.

Note

Version 0.5 shows only PLC Status. Function keys and code
for Ref Tables,

Config, Genius config, TCP/IP CommReq and SeqEvtRec zoom

screens are gone.

- Select PLC Table and press Enter. You should see the number of faults going to 0.
- Select State and choose Run w/I/O and press the Enter. PLC should go to Run now.
- Remove floppy, and power cycle the Machine again
