As stated by Primarks view, ethical conduct means is doing the right thing which bring
good values. Such as, every firm is treating their employees fairly in justice and esteem
plus each company should not cheat their own buyers for the purpose of making money.
In the nutshell, they have to conduct the firm in a right way and the firm should
considerate about each and everything when they are taking a decision. Moreover, all
firms must indicate a positive relationship between with stakeholder, suppliers and so on.
As the positive relationship will bring out a very good output from everyone. As
mentioned in Primarks view, ethical conducts have 4 point which is being a good
neighbour, taking care of people who is in it,respecting human rights, engaging with its
stakeholders.
First and formost, a victorious manager must give respect to the human rights. Human
rights is a right which is belong to everyone and which should be given equal to each and
everyone without judging the races, skin colours and so on. Researched said Primark give
an opportunity to underprivileged family who come from poor countries such as India,
Bangladesh, and China and so on. For instance, they did not ask for lodge "deposits" or
their identicalcard with their employer and they have the rights to leave their employer
after given their reasonable notice.Such as, following to Labor law it already stated that
employees that children who is below eighteen years old are illegal. So that they do not
even employ child labor because that can easily influence their education or health which
can spoil their future. They consider about everyone which is a good thing to be inspired.
In additional, a victorious manager will lead the company and the employee effectively to
achieve their goals without facing any unnecessary problems. The main thing about
maintaining a good firm is taking care of thier employees. A successful manager will send
a clear
of command as well as message and let thief employees understand about what they are
doing so that the output will be more effective and it will be one of the main reason to
target their goals. Such as, Primark in order to ensure their product are made in good
circumstance and the people making them are treated equally and paid a fair wage to set
out the Code of Conduct. As we know someemployees who come from different
countries such as Vietnam, there are large amount of people cannot read or write without
having a proper education, it can leads to have difficult for employees to understand and
gets what's the meaning ,Codes of Conduct. In that way, for helping those large amount of
uneducated employees, there's charities and designers which is design the posters of our
Code of Conduct of making them to have a clear picture. They designed the posters
feature cartoon style pictures that can easily to understand by all
employees. The employees will be more productive in working that it would be
give benefits to their firm.
Moreover ,a victorious company must engage with their stakeholder. The company must
have a positive relationship with stakeholde as I stated just now. There's two type of
Stakeholders, one is internal stakeholder and another one is external stakeholder. The
definition of Internal stakeholder is the people who works in the company such as
employees or managers. On the other hand, external stakeholder is the persons who
supply the goods or invest a fund to company such as salespersons, customer and
consumer, investor, civil society groups, trade unions and etc. A successful company
must
have a positive relationship with stakeholder. Why I am saying this strongly because
when there's a positive relationship is born, there will be no misunderstanding in working,
the task given will be easier to be done. Besides, a good relationship will always help
each other to achieve their goals without any difficulties and bring a good review to the
firm.
Last but not least, a firm should be a good neighbors to each other. As we know Primark
have many branches in around the
world such as Italy, Spain,Austria, and France and so on. Primark product are always in
good condition and the price is reasonable plus these reason why so popular at all over
the world. Primark in order to take care of people in other countries can have the
excitement of having cheaper and quality clothes so that they opened each branch in most
of the countries. This is a good thing to be done and inspired. We need more firms like
Primark to bring our environment to a better place.
2)Please identify the stakeholders engaged by Primark. Explain the Primarks purposes
of
engaging with different stakeholder in meeting the organizations goals. Please provide
further elaboration of the points stated in the article and provide example for each point
to illustrate your understanding.
As it mention to Primarks view, stakeholder engagement is the process of creating
communication channels that enable stakeholders to be informed about, and in some
cases influence, decision-making process. As I stated just now, there are two types of
stakeholder engaged by Primark, which are internal stakeholder and external stakeholder.
Internal stakeholder is the persons who work in that company such as managers,
employees and owners. Three types of managers are divided, first is top managers,
middle managers and first-line managers. Top managers are near the first and top of
organization, they are more to be involved on market positioning through long-range
strategic planning. All they have to do is predict or plan for the company future plans.
Middle managers found between the lowest and top levels of the organization, and their
task is to be more focuses in translating goals set by top managers into specific details so
that the lower-level managers will note it down get done as the instruction given by the
middle managers.First-line managers played a big role in directing day to day works
which is conduct by non managirial employees.
One of the maininternal stakeholders is owners. Owners are people who have interest in
the
firm's bussiness, they are the people who conduct the employees to achieve the goals in a
faster way and bring benefits to the company. Thus, employees are people who work in
the company. Their aim to earn high salaries from the company's achievement and want
to keep their employment with them to produce benifits such as produce good products
for increasing their sales.
From the other side, external stakeholder are bunch of people from outside of the
business who are indirectly working within the business but are affected in few ways
from the decisions
of the business, such as customers, suppliers, creditors, community, trade unions and so
on. Customers are one of the group as external stakeholder too. There's two types into
two
types that are common customer and loyal customer. Common customers have not much
interest in the company than the shareholders and lower level of power and they are not
so influence in it. Nevertheless, it does not mean that the company can simply ignore
these people from thier views. If the company neglects its customer it will make the
company start to have a less sales in their target. As the main mission is loyal customers
are highly valued. Besides, I would like to mention that retailers like Primark will always
find a way to understand their customers taste towards trends and will fulfill their needs.
In additional, the definition of supplier is the person who supply the goods to the sellers.
It is also mentioned as a middle person of the bussiness to make profit.Following to
Primarks view, the third party suppliers and factories producing goods are playing a big
role for the organizations quality of the product and ensure the goods produce in a right
way to the customers or buyers. Thus, trade unions and civil society groups are a group of
people who protect the employees right in the work place. These organizations share a
common goal of taking care the rights of workers. They needs to ensure the employees
will gains fairly in justice and respect in the company. Non-government organizations
(NGO)is the group of people who with local and
international knowledge to help build solutions to workers issues. As gorverment's part
they want business to pay taxes and follow laws. There will be no problem from
gorverment, as long as the bussiness is running legally.
To sum up, we should know that not all stakeholders are having same point of view.
Different stakeholders have different motivations in interest, making profit and so on.
Thus, stakeholders will affect or be affected by the companys decision making, vision,
mission and so on. So that they will always be more involve in all these cases to make
sure the bussiness is running effectively.
33) Please explain what Social Responsibility is. Do you think that Primark has be
social responsible in proving they are an ethical company? What is/are the social welfare
project that have been initiated by Primark which aligning with the organizations ethical
practices? Kindly explain the purposes of the projects.
Social responsibility is an ethical framework and suggests that an entity, be it an
organization or individual, has an obligation to act for the benefit of society at large.
Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform so as to maintain a balance
between the economy and the ecosystems. Some companies in order to cut down costs
and the use of human and material damage the environment. In fact, the manufacturing
process in the factory to emit toxic gases and substances in our air and water. These
factors contribute to the contamination of our environment as water pollution, air
pollution, which can harm humans. Each company should be able to earn the profits
divide into a small part put its back to the community and environment. Such as the
company can establish a
philanthropic foundation which can help people who is in need. So that, the company
need to consider financial and operating condition. As a conclusion, this certain
responsibility can be passive, by avoiding engaging in socially harmful acts, or active, by
performing activities that directly advance social goals.
From my point of view, yes, Primark has be social responsible in proving they are an
ethical company. Why I am stating this strongly because Primark never fail to treat their
workers equaly and also uses the 4 ideas of Ethical Conduct which are taking care of its
people, respecting human right, engaging with stakeholders and being a good neighbor as
I stated just now. On the other hand, when it comes to production, Primark never fail to
play a role as very strict to manage. This is because they act in advance to makes sure the
products they produced are made safety and quality to use. Moreover, Primark is also
good in maintaining their relationship with the stakeholders to make sure every
production is going well as planned.
Better work programme and Health Enables Return (HERprojects) in Bangladesh are
the social welfare project that have been initiated by Primark which aligning with the
organizations ethical practices.
From the reference, I get to know that better work programme was began in the year
2011. The main motive of this programme is to train the workers and give advice to
workers so that they can upgrade the factory managements. Two leading organizations are
develop this progamme that is the International Labour Organization (ILO) which
specializes in labor standards and the application of labour laws and the International
Finance Corporation (IFC) which is a member of World Bank Group that focuses on
private enterprise development. This programme operates in few countries. For examples,
Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
In additional HERproject is a project initiated in Bangladesh. HERprojcet also called
HERheath
which supply health information to workers. The main reason of this certain programme
is applied
actively to make positive vibes in the lives of local workers especially women. Their
main focus is in women rights. In low-incomes country it is unable to accept the
education especially women. They lack of basic knowledge such as health, hygiene and
so on. So that, they wanted to give an opportunity to educate thorough HERproject.
Moreover, the value of HERproject is giving advance care in health of women workers
and help to empower and educate them to achieve principle goals in thier life.
As a final result, I would like to strongly state that Primark has be social responsible in
