THE RULER – a mortal god

by
Muhammad Sarmad Hafeez

“I’ll be a mortal god, with having the power of the sun in the palm of my hand.”
(Thomas Edison- 19th Century, inventor of the light bulb)

Not only homosapiens instead every specie belonging to the kingdom animilia are
haunted by absolute power. To Charles Darwin it was means of natural selection.
“the survival of the fittest”

In this dimension he was not wrong at all. From the beginning of time, life has a death
verdict for the weaker ones. So everyone, everywhere in history and present scenario
tried to be the fittest.
As a ruler, rules over his nation he is vice of the ultimate God. If he is an atheist
he considers himself to be the god.
Empires and nations who have ruled the world over an indefinite time span
definitely did so over a ruler. This ruler has different names in different civilizations. He
was known as Alexander in Greece, Xerxes in Persia, Pharaoh in Egypt, Caesar in Rome,
Genghis in Russia and Tamarlane in Asia.
He has some times worn mask of Napoleon and sometimes sauwastika of Hitler.
Today even G.W.Bush has a thought deep down in his heart saying:
“you are the most powerful being ever to walk this earth”
(Remesus – II)

They consider themselves at the peak of all four posts on which a nation can rise which
are: military, economics, science and civilization. They try their best to block every loop
hole which brought down previous empires.
Yet every “ruler” sooner or later falls to become dust in passing ruthless time. To
me the problem with this god is it is mortal and when it tries to outshine the master the
real God comes in. And in spite of him being ultimate powerful and ultimate superior he
is immortal too. So all those rulers who stain the pages of history by considering
themselves mortal gods are just fooling themselves with no benefit other than temporary
pleasure of flattery on their existence.
As the mortal god Alexander the ruler and conqueror of the whole world (known
at that time) was pulled six feet under the ground with a unicellular organism which caste
fever to him one night and next morning he didn’t wake up. But what he said was

“show the world that when ruler of the world left, he left empty handed.”
(THE 100)

Xerxes the ruler of Indus to Nile was nearly killed in the battle of northern gates in
which 300 greeks nearly annihilated a million Persian army; a combination of 1000
nations gathered by Xerxes was defeated by mere 300 men.
And Lionitus (king of Spata and one of 300) said:
“By the end of this war I will prove that even a god king could bleed”
(300 the graphic novel)

Caesars the gods of Rome fought over a woman (Cleopatra). Similarly Tamarlane was
finally confinded by Islam and he believed in one true God other than thinking himself as
one.
Genghis was the founder of the largest empire ever built on the surface of this
earth but failed to capture Sultan Jallaludin Khwarzam Shah.
Napoleon was discarded from his own country and pity on Hitler because no
one even found his specific end.

This is how these gods vanished from the pages of history. I use to wonder if this is the
end then why they even bother to be a god in the first place.
Then I realized this is where the power of the sun in the palm of Edison
comes in.

(THE END)
