Video 3-4 Assignment 3
Video 3-4 Assignment 3
Join a group, groups should be 2-4 people. Do a short dramatic scene with two or more people in which you:
Find a short script, or write one. Dont make one up during shooting. Time yourself reading it aloud.
This project must show interaction between people - no lines delivered to the camera, no news formats, etc. No telephone
interaction.
Run the action at least six times, shooting from six or more single-camera setups, repeating the same dialog and actions by actors. At
least 2 wide, 2 O/S, and 2 CU.
(This is to be done in single-camera, film style setups. Use a lav mic on the person whose lips you see in the shot. Dont show the other
characters lips in O/S shots)
Use (at least) wide shots (aka. establishing or 2-shots), medium, over-the-shoulder, and close-up shots. Get a few pickups, too. Dont
cross the line of action.
Edit the interaction. Use split edits liberally, to show reaction shots. Splits and reaction shots should be a minimum of 1 second duration.
Consider emotion in the scene: more intimate interaction should be supported with closer shots.
Length is 2 to 4 minutes.
Each student edits their own project from group footage. AirDrop finished project to Rizzo.
