1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 This repair procedure is required for pipe
spool modification and replacement :
1.2 The following procedure shall be used as a
guideline for the repair work. This
procedure is written in accordance with
ASME code and PETRONAS Technical
Standard (PTS).
2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This procedure shall be applied:

To replace pipe spool and modification


To perform NDT
To perform painting work.

3.0 APPLICABLE CODE / STANDARD


The welding and NDT works are to be carried out and in accordance with the follow:
3.1 ASME V

- Article 6 " Method for Liquid Penetrating Testing "

3.2 ASME IX

- Welding and Brazing Qualification.

3.3 ASME B31.3

- Process Piping.

3.4 PETRONAS TECHNICAL STANDARD (PTS)

PTS 30.48.00.31-P : Protective Coating and Lining

5.0 JOB STEP METHOD


5.1 Pre-Fabrication of new spool

Material inspection by inspection team.


Measures and mark the existing spool that needs to be fabricated.
Proceed with joint preparation.
Proceed fit-up activity and visually inspect by Inspection (GPK)
Then, proceed welding as per approved procedure.
Perform RT 10% butt weld after complete welding.
If the NDT result is unacceptable, please remove the defect by grinding. Please repeat
step 5.1.5-5.1.6
Perform blasting and painting as per 1A.

Inform INSPECTION before start work.


Remove the existing spool using grinder.
Proceed with joint preparation.
Proceed fit-up activity and inspect by inspection.
Then, proceed welding as per approved procedure.
Visually inspect by INSPECTION .
Perform maintenance painting at weld area as per 1C.

6.0 WELDING SPECIFICATION


6.1 The above repair works shall follow the:

Process : GTAW

7.0 SAFETY
7.1 All condition must comply with Permit to Work (PTW).
7.2 All the condition stated by Job Safety Analysis (JSA) must be followed.
7.3 All personnel working on the job site shall be informed of the safety awareness by attending the
safety induction conducted by PGB representative prior to commencing work.
7.4 Full PPE to ensure personnel safety whilst working at site.
