1. Purpose: To avoid damage / personal injury during handling materials.
2. Scope: Safe handling of material. 3. Responsibility: Concerned Head. 4. Procedure: Ensure proper maintenance of all the Hydras. Record of maintenance carried out should be available. Inspect daily, before start of work, all such equipment and record in a Daily Maintenance record. Test certificates of all the Hydras should be maintained. Testing shall be done periodically s recommended by the manufacturer. Maximum safe working load shall be conspicuously marked on all the Hydras. Ensure that the Hydras are not loaded beyond maximum safe working load. When load is being lifted with Hydra, warn the persons in the vicinity by sounding horns/ whistle. Do not allow any body to stand under the load being lifted. Never allow any person to ride on the loads being lifted. Deploy only trained and authorized operators for operating the Hydra. Use of safety helmet, safety shoes and hand gloves by the helps must be ensured. Ensure proper illumination of the area where material handling is in progress.
