Candidates are requested to read this detailed notification on the website, carefully before
filling up / submission of ONLINE application. Candidates are required to apply online
through www.cutn.ac.in. Online application will open on 18.12.2016 and close on
17.01.2017 and last date for receipt of application printout along with enclosures in
support of Caste, educational qualification, API form for Associate Professor & Professor
with enclosures, teaching / research experience, research activities etc., is 24.01.2017.
Detailed instructions for filling up the online application will be notified on the website
along with the online application form.
Application received in OFFLINE mode and/or late receipt of application will not be
accepted, i.e. after the last date shall be summarily rejected without any consideration.
Applicants already employed under CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972 or on identical pension
scheme before 01.01.2004 will be considered on long term deputation upto 10 years or 65
years of age, whichever is earlier. They have to clearly mention it in the application in
case they wish to apply on deputation.

a) Five non-compounded advance increments shall be admissible at the entry level of
recruitment as Assistant Professor to persons possessing the degree of Ph.D. awarded in a
relevant discipline by the University following the process of admission, registration,
course work and external evaluation as prescribed by the UGC regulations 2009 and as
amended from time to time.
b) M.Phil. Degree holders at the time of recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor shall
be entitled to two non-compounded advance increments as prescribed by the UGC
regulations 2009 and as amended from time to time.

NOTIFICATION IN THE YEAR 2015: All those candidates who had applied in
response to our previous employment Notice No. CUTN/T/06/2015 dated 13.10.2015 to
the above notified disciplines like Professor Computer Sciences and Tamil, Associate
Professor Tamil, Assistant Professor Physics and Tamil which have not been
processed till now and will have to apply afresh. However, they will be EXEMPTED
FROM PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEES for which the candidate has to quote
his/her APPLICATION NUMBER in the field provided in Online application. To know

shortlisting. Please note that the fees exemption is only for above mentioned candidates

The qualifications and other conditions prescribed in the present advertisement are in
accordance to the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of
Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the
Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education 2010 (herein after referred as UGC
Regulations 2010) published in the Gazette of India, September 18, 2010 (BHADRA 27,
1932) [Part-III-Sec.4] and are subject to future regulations/norms, including
amendments in UGC regulations from time to time, stipulated by the
MHRD/UGC/AICTE applicable to such recruitments. For details of the regulations,

In accordance to the UGC regulations including amendments, candidates applying for the
post of Assistant Professor must submit a certificate in the prescribed format as per
Annexure I & II (as applicable) from the concerned University to the effect that their
Ph.D. degree is in compliance of UGC Regulations for award of Ph.D. degree, if they
have not qualified in NET.

Candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. from foreign Universities should enclose
Equivalence Certificate issued by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi,
without which their candidature will not be considered and application will be rejected.
Application Fee: Rs.500 /- for SC / ST / PWD candidates and for Others Rs.750/- (UR
& OBC) category. Payment should be made only through the Online payment gateway.

Applications not accompanied with full prescribed fee and the fee sent through Money
Order, Crossed Cheques, Currency Notes and Treasury Challan will not be accepted by
the University and such applications will be treated as without fee and will be summarily
rejected. No representation against such rejection will be entertained.
1.9.2 Separate Payment and filled online application form along with enclosures have to be
submitted for each post, in case a candidate wants to apply for more than one post.

3.1
The following are the essential Qualifications for the posts of Professor / Associate
Professor / Assistant Professor [Area of Specialization (Subject - Specialization) for these
posts are provided separately under Sl.No. (2.1)
3.1.1 Essential Qualification for the post of PROFESSOR:
I)For Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Languages,
Journalism and Mass Communication:
A. (i) An eminent scholar having Good Academic Record* with Ph.D. qualification(s)
in the concerned / allied / relevant discipline with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent
grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree and
published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published
work with a minimum of 10 publications as books and / or research / policy papers.
OR
In case of Epidemiology and Public Health: An Eminent scholar having Good
Academic Record* with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point
scale wherever grading system is followed) in Post Graduate Degree and published
work of high quality and actively engaged in research as evidenced from published
work with a minimum of 10 publications as books/research/policy papers in
Epidemiology and Public Health, with qualification of MD/DNB/PhD/DrPH in
Epidemiology / Public Health or allied subjects.
(ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university / college of which three
years at the level of Associate Professor and / or experience in research at the University
/ National level institutions / Industries, including experience of guided candidates for
research at doctoral level.
(iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and
technology mediated teaching learning process.

(iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) (i.e.
400 from Category II & III) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), set out
in the UGC Regulation, 2010 and amendments from time to time.

3.1.2
NOTE:
1) Under the term 'Good academic record' the candidate must have obtained on an average of 50% / 45% marks
in each of the two public examinations / degrees immediately preceding the Masters degree for selection to
Science / Humanities faculty respectively. Further a relaxation of 5% shall be allowed to OBC /SC/ST and PWD
candidates on the above marks.
2) A relaxation of 5% may be provided in marks from 55% to 50% to the Ph.D. degree holders at the Graduate
and Master's level for the OBC/SC/ST/PWD (Physical and Visual Disabilities) categories for the purpose of
eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
3.1.3
OR
In case of Epidemiology and Public Health: Good Academic Record* with
qualification of MD/DNB/PhD/M.Sc (Epidemiology/Public Health)/MPH/ DrPH/
ME/M.Tech in relevant or allied subjects with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent
grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree
level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from
an accredited foreign university.
(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the
National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, CBSE or similar test
accredited by the UGC.
(iii) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-clauses (i) and (ii) to this Clause 4.4.1,
candidates, who are, or have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the
University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of
Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 and subsequent amendments, shall be exempted
from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET for recruitment
and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities /
Colleges / Institutions.
(iv) NET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for
which NET is not conducted.
NOTE:
1) A relaxation of 5% may be provided at the graduate and Master's level for the OBC/SC/ST/ Persons with
Disabilities (Physical and Visual Disabilities) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good
academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions.
(2) A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks, to the Ph.D. degree holders who have
passed their master's degree prior to 19th Sept.1991:
(3) B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O,A,B,C,D,E& F shall be regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the
grading system is followed.
(4).Under the term 'Good academic record' the candidate must have obtained on an average of 50% / 45% marks

Applicants are advised to submit the printout application with enclosures to the University well
in advance, without waiting till last date, to avoid postal delay or any other unforeseen problems.
The University will not be responsible for any postal delay at any stage.
The University may offer lower post to a candidate, who may have applied for a higher post, in
case suitable candidates are not available for the advertised post.
It will be open to the University to consider, on its own, names of suitable candidates who have
not applied. This cannot be claimed as a right.
The prescribed qualification and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate
possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview. The University reserves
the right to restrict the candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number on the basis
of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed as decided by duly
constituted Screening Committee/s and approved by the Competent Authority based on
prescribed norms of the University. The Screening committee shall scrutinize the application and
award scores based on the Academic record, Post-Doctoral Experience, teaching/ research
experience, API score, Publications, Research Guidance and sponsored research projects. The
scores awarded will be the basis for screening and shortlisting of the application and will NOT
have any weightage for selection by the selection committee. Call letters for attending interview
will be sent only to the short-listed candidates by Speed Post or Registered Post or Courier
service and also by email. No correspondence will be made with applicants who are not short
listed/not called for interview

a) Reservations for SC, ST, OBC candidates and Persons with Disabilities exist as per the Roster
being maintained by the University for various posts in accordance with the guidelines of the
UGC/GOI. Candidates applying for the Reserved Posts should clearly state to which category
they belong. They must also enclose a Certificate issued by Tahsildar/Mandal Revenue Officer/
Equivalent authority as proof to this effect, without which the applications will be considered
against UR positions, if found eligible.
b) In case a candidate wants to claim benefits under the Persons with Disabilities category,
the candidates relevant disability should be not less than 40 per cent. Proof, to this effect, must
be enclosed with the application, without which the application will be treated as 'General
(Unreserved)'.
c) Candidate applying for the post(s) reserved for OBC, must submit an self-attested copy of
caste certificate specifically mentioning Creamy Layer-exclusion in the format prescribed by
Govt. of India, issued by competent authority, vide Column 3 of G.O.I. Dept. of Personnel and
Training O.M.No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 8.9.1993 and modified vide DOPT's
O.M.No.36033/3/2004-Estt.(Res) dated 9.3.2004, subsequently revised vide O.M.
No.36033/3/2004-Estt.(Res) dated 14.10.2008, without which applications will not be
considered. The form of Caste Certificate must be in the format as prescribed by the Govt. of
India, which is enclosed as Annexure III.
d) OBC candidates not enclosing the caste certificate/in the prescribed format, their
candidature will be considered against UR position, if otherwise found eligible.
e) Relaxation in age & qualification will be applicable to only those posts which are
reserved and candidates with relaxed standards will not be considered for Unreserved position
(Ref.No.36011/1/98-Estt.(Res) dated 01/07/1998). Candidates seeking or given relaxation will
only be considered against the relevant reserved category.
The University reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications, experience, etc., in deserving
cases in respect of any post. However, this cannot be claimed as a right.
Candidates applying for the position of Associate Professor and Professor need to fill up the
columns under professional development, co-curricular and extension activities (Category II)
and research & academic contribution (Category III). The detailed score is available in
www.ugc.ac.in as UGC Regulations 2010 and amendments from time to time. This part is to be
filled as per Appendix III: Table I of UGC regulations 2010 with subsequent amendments.
The number of vacancies of the posts indicated in this Employment Notification is tentative. The
University reserves the right to fill any consequential vacancies, and /or to increase/decrease the
number of posts and make appointments accordingly.
Canvassing in any form on behalf of any candidate will disqualify such candidate.
Selection will be made on the basis of candidates academic record, teaching & research
experience and their performance in the interview. The University may utilize seminar
/colloquium and/or any other mode as a method of selection.
Candidates already in service must submit their applications through proper channel. In case the
applicant is in service, and if any delay is expected in getting endorsement of the employer, the
applicant may submit Advance Copy of the application, with all enclosures, to the address given
in the employment notification directly (with or without employer's endorsement on the Advance
Copy). If the original application through proper channel is not received by the University by the
last date mentioned in the employment notification, the candidate/applicant will have to submit
a 'NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE' obtained from his/her employer to the University at the
time of interview, if he/she is called for interview.
All the proofs in support of Research & Academic contribution must be enclosed with the
application.
Also enclose three best research papers. Please do not send any copy of the books, however the
books should be produced at the time of interview.
Experience and qualifications will be reckoned as on the preceding-day to the date of
