As a junior in the Marketing program at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, I
believe I would be an excellent consideration for the Marketing intern position that you have
advertised with UTC. I am eager to put all I am learning to use in the real world, yet I am also
ready to learn much more about how business is actually conducted. I also agree that employees
should be fully invested in whatever task is at hand and committed to finishing what was started.
For the past seven summers I have worked full time with a landscaping company called
Pinnacle Property Maintenance, and part time with them throughout the academic year. In my
time there my willingness to learn new skills, be invested, and finish jobs has definitely been
tested. Through that testing I have grown stronger in these, and other areas. Being a full time
student while holding a job for 7 years has shown me a lot about balancing multiple tasks
efficiently. PPM also has several corporate contracts, and dealing with these, I have had to learn
how to handle a professional environment and contact with the chain of command. Aside from
having these contacts, volunteering in my church has given me room to improve my
communication and presentation skills. I would feel very comfortable with giving a presentation
in front of a large crowd, and building relationships with customers.
My education through high school and now UTC has required me to become proficient at
using programs such as MS office. And I even have a little bit of experience with the Adobe
creative products through my volunteer work at my church and my passion for filmmaking. Plus,
if we are honest, my education has required me to become organized in order to succeed. Thus I
feel as though I could fulfill all the social and technological aspects of this position, and learn
any skills I currently lack.
I would like to have an interview with you to further discuss the position. Please feel free
to contact me any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday after 11:00 am at 890-372-1262 or by email at
jlp585@mocs.utc.edu. I look forward to getting to meet with you in person, and am incredibly
thankful for your time and consideration.
