The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup was established in 2005. Over these last 12 years the FR2.0 NEC has become
one of the stepping stones for the ul,mate goal in motorsports: Formula 1.
The calendar consists of seven weekends, all with free prac,ce, qualifying sessions and two races.
The Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup races on a selec,on of Formula 1 and Formula 3 circuits in order to provide an
excellent prepara,on for the future of young talented drivers.

- 2 x 30 minutes, free prac,ce sessions
- 2 x 20 minutes qualifying sessions (with a ve minute break in between in the pit lane)
The races are 25 minutes each
- Start grid 1 is the result of the rst qualifying session
- Start grid 2 is the result of the second qualifying session
The series has its own race director and scru,neering team
An Interna,onal B or C licence is required to take part in the series
The mee,ng format may change on certain events due to recommenda,ons of the event
organizers.

In Formula 1 in the past and present you will nd a number of drivers who have raced for one or more years in the Formula
Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup.
ValWeri BoWas won his second season in the NEC in 2008 and is now the driver for the Mercedes F1 team. Daniil Kvyat
(seasons 2010 - 2012) now races for the Torro Rosso F1 team. Carlos Sainz Jr. (winner 2011) is also a driver for the Torro
Rosso F1 team while Sbas,en Buemi (season 2006) used to race for this team. Buemi s,ll con,nues to compete in the
Renault racing series through the FIA Formula.
In total almost 600 drivers took part in one or more races in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup from 2006 un,l
now.
Our drivers come from all over the world:

A dyno check at Oreca must be done before the start of the season
