Kongsberg Sound Reception System

The VSS system is a sound reception system that allows bridge officers inside an enclosed bridge to hear sound signals from other vessels. It has four waterproof microphones mounted outside the bridge that detect sound in different directions. The signals are amplified and transmitted inside through a speaker. LED indicators show the direction of detected sounds to aid navigation in low visibility conditions.
