Darcy's Law Exercise

The document describes an aquifer that is 830 meters wide. The aquifer has an effective porosity of 47.3% and a hydraulic conductivity of 143 meters per day. It asks how long it would take for groundwater to move from well A to well B in this aquifer.

Consider the aquifer shown in Figure below; the aquifer is 830 m wide.

The effective porosity of

the medium is 47.3% and its hydraulic conductivity equals 143 m/d. How long does it take for the
groundwater to move from well A to well B?

The aquifer shown in Figure below is 1.30 km wide. The yield porosity is 0.290 and the hydraulic
conductivity is 83 m/d. Water containing a dangerous contaminant is dumped into well A. How
long does it take for the contaminant to show up in well B?
