Meet the Filmmaker


Aslihan Unaldi, Director and Producer
Aslihan Unaldi is a writer-director-producer, born and raised in Istanbul. She received her
BA in International Relations and in Photography from Yale University. She received her
MFA in film from New York Universitys Tisch School of Arts. Her award winning short
film Razan premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival in 2006 and went on to travel the
international festival circuit. Overdrive: Istanbul in the New Millennium is Unaldis first
feature documentary. She is currently developing her feature script, Gated, a selection to
the Berlinale Script Station in 2010.

Crew Bios
Kathryn Westergaard, Cinematographer
Kat Westergaard left a career in still photography to begin course work at the prestigious graduate film program at New York
University in 2002. She has served as the cinematographer on projects ranging in focus from stories of long-term female felons
who are caught up in the Missouri prison system, to polygamy in rural Zambia, to the foster care system in New York City. In
2008, Kat was asked to work as Barack Obamas personal filmmaker and spent six months on the campaign trail with the Obama
campaign recording President Obamas route to the White House.

Danny Vecchione, Cinematographer


Danny has extensive training in the visual arts and holds an MFA from the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts at NYU. While
there he shot over forty short films winning the Wasserman Award for cinematography an unprecedented eleven times. The
projects he has worked on have been shown in every major film festival across the world.

Elif Ozsut, Line Producer


Elif Ozsut graduated from Social and Political Sciences program at Sabanci University in 2004 and from the Media Design and
Production master program at the Catholic University of Milan in 2006. She has worked on a number of television, documentary
and institutional productions in roles ranging from researcher to directors assistant. She has also directed two institutional
documentaries; Gelece!in Mimar Robert Kolej and SEV Belgeseli.

Erdem Helvacioglu, Composer


Erdem Helvacioglu is a well-known electronic music composer and performer based in Istanbul. His compositions have been
performed in concerts and festivals worldwide and he has received numerous international awards including prizes from the Luigi
Russolo and Insulae Electronicae Electroacoustic Music Competitions.

Idil Ozkan, Composer


Composer graduated from Berklee College of Music. Her music has been performed at Young Composers Festival and at concerts
by Hezarfen Ensemble. Her commissioned piano piece representing Turkey has been released in Japan. She worked in several
audio-visual projects and composed music for Mahalia Cohens documentary Balance. Currently doing her masters degree in
composition at MIAM.
