Instrument start-up
The instrument can be switched on at any time, regardless of the machine state. When the
instrument it switched on, the system will screen the Drillmec logo, followed by the main page.
Press the key to activate the Hydraulic Power Unit or Oil flow control System.

(Fig.1 Start-up page)

2
Hydraulic Power Unit
Hydraulic Power Unit main page

(Fig.2 HPU main page)

The main page displays the pumps , the filters , the manual valves, oil cooling fans, oil tank
temperature, oil tank level, maintenance and actual alarms status.
The symbol HPU Ready is green when only one power unit (1 or 2) is working and it allows to
activate the movements.
The Reset Alarms key, used to cut off the acoustic signal in case of alarm, is also displayed on the
screen, the key for visualising the history alarms page.

3
If one of manual valves HPU1 or 2 is close or oil level is low or the oil temperature is too high or
filters in alarm or maintenance is active, HPU pumps are not possible to start. If HPU is running
but oil temperature is under low value the Super-Charging pumps are not possible to start. If oil
temperature is over high value starting oil cooling funs.

Hydraulic Power Settings

Warning: The data must only be accessed by highly qualified, skilled personnel. Incorrect
settings may jeopardise normal machine operation. The Drillmec password must be
utilised to modify the data on the page and the sub-pages.
The Drillmec operator can change the high and low oil temperature pressing on wish value and can
change high and low oil level pressing on oil tank symbol. Every time operator changes values the
system will ask the password.

Hydraulic Power Unit Alarms History page

(Fig. 3 HPU Hystory alarm page)

The alarms history page enables the user to visualise the alarms which have been stored in the
memory of the device.

4
PLC networks:

Click to open the network status page:

(Fig. 4 HPU Network configuration)

The network configuration page displays the status of the profibus and MPI networks. Any communication
device is checked and become red if It is on fault.
The profibus network is composed by all the I/O of the system and send all data to the main PLC cpu.
Click on any device to open the I/O list page:

6
Oil flow control System
Oil flow control system main page

(Fig.6 Hydrolux main page)

The main page displays the Rotary joystick pressure, the Pull-Down joystick pressure, and the
pressures selected by the Torque and Pull-Up Regulations. The opening percentage of the relative
remote control valve and the return pressure are displayed for each of these pressures.
The actual alarms, state of digital inputs and valves are also displayed. The Reset Alarms key, used
to cut off the acoustic signal in case of alarm, is also displayed on the screen, as are the keys for
visualising the history alarms page and accessing the devices configuration.

7
Oil flow control system Alarms History page

(Fig. 7 Hydrolux Hystory alarm page)

The alarms history page enables the user to visualise the alarms which have been stored in the
memory of the device.

Oil flow control devices settings

Warning: The data on this page must only be accessed by highly qualified, skilled
personnel. Incorrect settings may jeopardise normal machine operation. The Drillmec
password must be utilised to modify the data on the page and the sub-pages.

8
Setting the Proportional Electric Valve Parameters (PWM)

(Fig.8 Proportional Electric Valve Settings Page)

9
This page shows the proportional electric valve settings.

(Fig.9 Proportional Electric Valve Settings)

 Setting the Proportional Electric Valves:
- Each proportional electric valve is guided by a PWM-type operation. The electric valve
has a operating range under which the valve will appear to be closed, and another above
which the coil will overheat and may become damaged. Warning! Carefully check the
characteristics of the coil connected, and set appropriate values.
- Acceleration time corresponds to the time it must take the device to pass from the
minimum to maximum speed.
- Deceleration time corresponds to the time it must take the device to pass from the
maximum to the minimum speed.

10
Sensor Setting Selection Page
Sensor setting, regulator potentiometers, and modifying the joystick scale controls.

(Fig.10 Devices Setting Page)

This page enables the user to set the analogical input (voltage for the potentiometers, and current
for the pressure transducers) or set the joystick scale modification.

Setting the Pressure Transducers

(Fig.11 Pressure Transducer Settings)

This page enables the user to set the correspondence (in Bars) to the minimum and maximum
levels of current from the pressure transducer, according to its characteristics.

11
Modifying the control scale

(Fig.12 Control Scale Modification)

This page enables the user to set the correspondence between the input Bars from the joystick
transducer and the output Bars of the valve control. This option enables the user to pass from one
fixed input scale, from the joystick transducer, to a variable scale for controlling the relative valve.

Setting the Regulator Potentiometers

(Fig.13 Regulator Potentiometer Settings)

This page enables the user to set the correspondence (in Bars) to the minimum and maximum
levels of current from the potentiometer (0..10V).
