Lesson Introduction (Anticipatory Set/Hook/Accessing Prior Knowledge) Time: 5 min

Students will access prior knowledge when teacher reviews the main ideas from the day before

Vocabulary (Content Language Development) Time:

Students will talk about causes of World War II and learn about Treaty of Versailles, League
of Nations, and the Great Depression as causes of the war. We will also talk about different
ideologies and military leaders that rose to power during this time period, such as Hitler,
Stalin, Mussolini, and Japanese military leaders.
Content Delivery (Direct Instruction) Time: 40 minutes
Instructor will mostly delivery content through this time by utilizing a presentation.

Student Engagement (Critical Thinking & Student Activities) Time: 20 min

Students will engage with the lesson by following along the lecture by using the guided
notes graphic organizer. They will also need to draw a simple timeline and answer critical
thinking questions on there.

Lesson Closure Time: 5 min

This will depend on how far it takes for us to go through the groups. Most likely we will not
finish, which means lesson closure will just be reminders that we will continue our lesson the
next day.

Assessments (Formative & Summative)

Formative: Instructor will be asking questions throughout the lecture to check for
understanding. The critical thinking questions at the end of the notes will also serve as
formative assessment. There are no summative assessments today in the lecture because
there will be more content to go over.

Accommodations for English Learners, Striving Readers and Students with Special Needs
Students with accommodations will be able to access the lectures online beforehand and
also receive the handout earlier so they know what to expect in class. Students will also be
able to spend extra time on the guided notes as needed. Instructor will also give time for
students to follow along with the slides and repeat anything that needs to be repeated for
clarity.
