Prepositions
For single days and dates we use on.
For example:
I was born on the 7th of the month.
For months we use in.
For example:
I was born in September.

! My birthday is on September the 7th.


4. Sample sentences and the correct prepositions:

I was born in 1999. (Use in with the year.)

I was born in August. (Use in with the month.)

I was born on 12th May, 2000. (Use on in the complete date.)

If you write 4/8/2011, it is the 4th August 2011 in Britain, but it is April 8th, 2011 in the USA.

Don't forget to use...

in + month or year- In March, In 2003

on + date (with the year or without it) or day of the week- On April 2, On March 3, 1999, On Saturday

at + clock time, midnight, noon- At 3:30 p.m., At 4:01, At noon

Remember also...

in + season- In the summer, In the winter

in + morning, afternoon, evening- In the morning, In the evening


at + night- At night
