3D Model of The Atom Project Information Sheet and Rubric

This document provides instructions for students to create a 3D model of an atom. It outlines getting information from the periodic table about the atom's atomic number, mass, and number of protons, neutrons and electrons. It then instructs students to construct a 3D model showing the correct locations and sizes of protons, neutrons and electrons, and the electron shell arrangement. Students must also take photos of their materials, project progress, and final model and label them for grading. A rubric is provided to grade the models on accuracy, appearance, punctuality and group performance.

3D Model the ___________________ Atom

Information Sheet
GROUP NO. ___

PURPOSE: To create a 3-D model of an atom.

I. Use the periodic table and your notes to determine the following information about your atom:
A. Atomic number:
B. Atomic mass:
C. Number of Protons:
D. Number of Neutrons:
E. Number of Electrons:
F. Number of electrons in each energy level:
Level 1: Level 2: Level 3:

show the following:
a. 3-Dimensional protons, neutrons, and electrons represented in their correct locations and
by their correct respective sizes
b. Correct number of protons, neutrons, and electrons
c. Electron shell arrangement

III. Attach pictures of the following:

a. Materials
b. Project Progress (at least three)
c. Final output (must be labeled)
