1. 0 GENERAL

1. 1 Access

The Q.I. shall verify that a Client Approved Access Certificate has been received for the
area in which the installation is to take place.

1. 2 Receipt Inspection

The Q. I. shall verify from the Receipt Inspection Records that the rack / tray to be
installed has been passed for installation.

1. 3 Drawings

The Q.I. shall verify from the Drawing Register that the Foreman has been issued with
the Latest Revision A.F.C. drawings.

1. 4 Work Permits

Where required the Supervisor shall obtain from the client a Permit to work and hand the
permit to the Foreman who shall retain the permit in his possesion at the work site for
the duration of the work. On completion the Foreman shall return the permit to the
Supervisor for closing out.

1.5 Surveillance

The Q. I. shall verify each step of the installation during day to day surveillance and
complete the relevant sections of the checklists for each installation. An open line of
communication shall be maintained between the Q. I., Site Manager, Supervisors and
Foremen so that where a fault is encountered by the Q.I. It can be immediately
discussed in order to prevent a recurrence. Where an identified fault is found by the Q.I.
to recur, or where no action is taken to rectify an identified fault, the Q.I. shall raise a
Non-Conformance Report.

1. 6 Client Notification of Inspection and Test Points

Where the Client has Inserted a Hold, Witness or Verification Point on the I. T. P it is
the Q.I's responsibility to Inform the Client that the point has been reached. On
satisfactory completion of the Inspection, Test or Verification, the Q.I. shall ensure that
the Client signs all relevant documents.

1. 7 Client Installation Acceptance Inspection.

Before notifying the Client of an Installation Acceptance Inspection, the Q.I. shall ensure
that the Internal Punchlist for the Installation has been cleared. The Q.I. shall then make
a copy of the Internal Punchlist, attach the copy to the Installation Inspection Request
and hand it to the Client.

The Supervisor accompanied by the Client shall with the aid of the relevant AFC drawing
check the route. Where racking is required but is not shown, the Supervisor and the
Client shall decide on the route and the Supervisor shall mark up all copies of the
relevant drawing.

2.2.3 Cable Rack / Tray Installation

The Foreman shall determine the type and quantity of supports required and draw them
from the stores. The Foreman shall check the supports before installation, and ensure
that the right support is mounted at each position and is level.

Racks shall be secured to their supports using the product supplied clamps, bolts,
washers and nuts. All accessaries shall be joined into the system using the correct
type and number of splicer plates.

The Foreman shall ensure that the correct size Earth Conductors and Bonding Jumpers
are properly installed and terminated.

On completion of the installation work, the Foreman shall notify the Q. I. who shall
inspect the installation completing the relevant sections of the checklist.

2.2.4 Installation Test

The following test shall be undertaken : -

a) Earth Continuity Test

The Supervisor shall obtain from the Client the relevant Test Permit, check that the
required Safety Measures have been taken and ensure that the Test Equipment is
correct for the Type of Test and has a Valid Calibration Certificate. Where satisfied the
Q.I. shall instruct the Foreman to perform the test and the Q.I. shall record the results
on the Test Certificate . On satisfactory completion of testing, the Q.I.
shall sign off the Test Certificate.

2.2.5 Internal Inspection

The Q. I. shall check the completed installation noting any faults found on an Internal
Punchlist which shall be rectified by the Foreman within the agreed
time.On completion of a satisfactory Inspection or re-inspection the Q.I. shall sign off
the Internal Punchlist and the Checklist The Q. I. shall then raise
an Installation Inspection Request attach a copy of the completed
Internal Punchlist to the request and hand it to the Client.

2.2.6 Acceptance

At the agreed time the Client and the Q.I. shall inspect the installation, where satisfied
both parties shall complete and sign off all relevant documentation. In the event of minor
re-work being required, this shall be listed on the Installation Acceptance Certificate
and completed within the agreed period. Both parties shall then
re-inspect the installation and where satisfied shall sign off the Acceptance Certificate.
The QI shall then hand the Certificate to the Project Construction Engineer for signature.

2.2.7 Data Pack

On completion the Q.I. shall check the Data pack against the Data Pack Index
ensuring that all documentation has been fully completed.
