Rationale/Purpose: Adding up to 20

State/National Learning Standards:


CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.B.2
Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies. By end of Grade 2, know from
memory all sums of two one-digit numbers.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.OA.A.1
Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving
situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with
unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown
number to represent the problem.

Content/ Language Objectives:

Planning for Student Learning Needs:


Student A has ADHD
Provide an exercise ball
Activities at each station are hands-on and provide manipulatives for student to make
contact with the work
Timer provided with clear instructions
Student B has Autism
Extra set of materials provided at each work station, has the option to work individually
Activities at each station are hands-on and provide manipulatives for student to make
contact with the work
Timer provided with clear instructions
Communicate visual schedule of stations

Assessments:
Exit Slip: FrownySmiley liked the activity? Disliked activity? Why didnt you like the
activity? Too hard?

Learning Activities:
Connect the popsicle sticks: Popsicle sticks: Start: 10 more than 5 15: 6 more than 5
Build it cards: Build 4! Add 8 more! What is the sum?
