Assignment 3

This document provides the instructions for Assignment #3 for an Electrical Circuit and Device course. It consists of 13 multiple choice and circuit analysis problems worth 1 point each, except for problems 5, 6, and 8 which are worth an extra point each if the student writes the node analysis equations in matrix form. The assignment is due on September 21st or 22nd depending on the class section, and late submissions will not be accepted. Students must show their work and use an engineer's computation pad to receive credit.

Assignment # 3

E211- Electrical Circuit and Device

Note: For full credit, you must clearly show how you arrive at the solution, including all
relevant equation and calculations. Solution without intermediate steps will not receive
any marks.
Due date: Sept 21 (for MWF section) and Sept 22 (for TR sections);
Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
Use only the engineers computation pad; solve the problems on the lighter side of the paper and
not on both sides; staple before turning it; write clearly and legibly; work independently.

1. [1pts] In figure below how much power is absorbed/delivered by each component?

2. [1pts] In figure below what are the values for ix and iy?

3. [1pts] A current source is connected to four identical and parallel 2 resistors, as shown
below. If the power absorbed by each resistor is 2W how much is the value of the current
source?
4. [1pts] In the circuit given below, we have V1=2V2=3V3 and R1=6. Find the value for
R1+R2+R3?

5. [1pts] What is the voltage V in the circuit shown below?

6. [1pts] What is the voltage V in the circuit shown below?

7. [1pts] 15 identical resistors are connected as shown below. If the equivalent resistance at
terminals ab is 15, calculate the value for each resistor.
8. [1pts] In figure below Determine VX in the circuit?

9. [1pts] What is the current measured by the ammeter in the following circuit?

10. [1pts] What is the equivalent resistance between terminals a and b?

11. [1 Extra Point] For question # 5 write node analysis equations in matrix form and
calculate the euquation to find the voltage V

12. [1 Extra Point] For question # 6 write node analysis equations in matrix form and
calculate the euquation to find the voltage V

13. [1 Extra Point] For question # 8 write node analysis equations in matrix form and
calculate the euquation to find the voltage Vx
