Monetary policy and its impact on manufacturing sector

1. INTRODUCTION:

In this project we will focus on how monetary policy impacts the manufacturing sector of
country. We will first try to understand what is monetary policy and how it is used by
federal bank to stimulate economy of the country. After studying this, we will throw some
light on how changes in the monetary policy impacts different sectors of industry. After
having understood the macro effect of monetary policy on all sectors we will focus our
research on manufacturing sector. We will try to understand manufacturing sector as a
whole and would map the different ways in which manufacturing sector as a whole reacts
to the different changes which takes place in monetary policy. We will also shed some light
on what are the current challenges faced by the manufacturing sector and how federal
bank can play a crucial role in mitigating this challenges with the help of proper monetary
policy decisions.
2. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:

What are the current challenges faced by manufacturing sector?


What impact monetary policy have on the manufacturing sector?
How to mitigate challenges in manufacturing sector with proper monetary policy?

2.2. WHY IS THIS PROBLEM SIGNIFICANT / NEED FOR THE STUDY?


India being a labour oriented country, MNCs always look towards India as a source of
skilled but cheap labour. Over and above that, due to governments initiative of Make
in India, MNCs are setting up their manufacturing plants in India at large scale. But
in order to be profitable companies also need to focus on the economic conditions of
India, which in turn is regulated my Fiscal and Monetary policy. Thus, it is very
important to study the impact of monetary policy on manufacturing sector.

2.3. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY


This study is exclusively based on secondary data. Secondary data were collected from the RBI
bulletin, RBI occasional papers, RBI Annual Reports, Report on Currency and Finance,
Economic Survey, Economic and Political Weekly (EPW), Finance and Development, Economic
Diary, The Hindu, ICSSR, Economic Times, Asian Economic Review, Indian Economic Journal,
Financial Express, World Bank Reports, Internet etc.

Policy are really praiseworthy. Although various studies have been reviewed, only
those works which are closely related to the present study are included here like:
Gupta and Srinivasan (1984), Paulson (1989), Arun Ghosh, (1994).
