MY FIRST DAY IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

(April 24, 2017)

It’s my first day of my OJT and I don’t know what to do and what to expect. I feel excited
because for the first time, I will experience how to work. When I came in my designated office
for my first day, it’s Monday morning, April 24, 2017. The HR Clerk Mr. Russel Eusantos
introduced me to his fellow workmates whom I will work with, except to the resident Manager
because she’ out for a vacation but they told me that they will introduce me to her when she
back.
On my first day I was bored. Because they don’t give me something to do but I think it is
only because they are shy to me. But afterwards finally the HR clerk gives me some data to
encode.
Some Clerk starts to ask me about myself while encoding. We chat until 3PM, they even
treat me merienda and I was so happy that my workmates are active and reachable. And that’s
my first day in Dawal Beach Resort.

MY FIRST WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

This is my first week and I feel super comfortable with my workmates. But I get nervous
because the Resident Manager is back. I introduced myself to her and I realize that she’s not
that so strict. We eat lunch together with whole front office staff’s. In the afternoon we go back
to work and she gave me some data to encode and ask me to create a Guest’s Fill-up Form.

MY SECOND WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

On the second week of my On-the-Job training, I spent my whole week finishing that
Guest’s Fill-up form. And they taught me how to handle a guest. After I finish the Guest form I
started to print some tickets for the “Sabado Nights”, it’s a party every Saturday night. I also
print some tickets for the boats going to Potipot Island.

THIRD WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

On the third week of my On-the-Job Training, Mrs. Helen Grace asked me to make some
3Dimension Sketch of the Front Office because she said that the Front Office will be renovated
soon. So I made a sketch of it through Autocad and I focused my whole week making it.
FOURTH WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT
It’s my fourth week and I spent this week making some list of guest for the month of
November, December and January. Other than that, I made some tickets and I made Greetings
for the Birthdays of the employees of DAWAL.

MY FIFTH WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

My Fifth week in DAWAL was very busy because there are many guest are booking. And
there are three weddings to happen this week. All the employees are busy so am I. In my free
time I still made some forms.

MY LAST WEEK IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

This is my last week of my On-the-Job Training and I still encode guest’s reservations
and making some tickets. My last task is to finish all the reservations for the month of
November, December and January.

MY LAST DAY IN DAWAL BEACH RESORT

Today is my last day in DAWAL BEACH RESORT. I was so excited to finish this training but
on the other side I was sad because I will miss everything in DAWAL. Its 9am in the morning
when Ma’am Helen asked when is my last day so I told her that this is my last day. She treat us
some Meryenda to celebrate my last day. After that, back to work. I finished all the
Reservations and tickets. My shift is 1:00PM to 10: 00PM so I stayed until Night. At Night we
don’t have much to do so I take this opportunity to say goodbye to all of them.
LEARNINGS
The training I had in DAWAL BEACH RESORT is learning many experiences each
day. I became familiar with documents and learned how to handle guests. Aside from those
things, I also learned to be more sociable and to adjust myself in the environment where I work
and to whom I work with.
In more than a month of my stay there, I learned many things not only those
things that are related to my course but also the things that molded me into person I am right
now. When I was working as a trainee at Dawal Beach Resort, I learned to be a hardworking
person. The time to finish the task given to me is important, and it is more important to finish
this correctly. I learned to appreciate even the simplest lesson studied in my school. Also, to
understand that everything that was taught in school can be a tool to use in the future career.
After the training, I realized that On-the-Job Training was not just a requirement to be
accomplished but an opportunity to show what skill, knowledge and talents I have. This OJT
allowed me to get acquainted with other employee of Dawal Beach Resort. They kept on
encouraging and motivating me to work and study hard. They all left a piece of advice to me
that will surely keep in mind and in my heart for the rest of my life.
I won’t forget the training supervisor who challenged my skills, ability and patience. She
is the person who wants everything to be done correctly. That experience that I had is good for
me because she taught me to become more patience while working.
I really had a memorable On the Job Training at Dawal Beach Resort.
No one could have guessed that the placid expanse of seaside
grassland in rustic Barrio Uacon of Candelaria would someday turn out
to be the pride of Zambalenos. Dawal Beach Resort and Restaurant was
initially conceived as a private summer retreat for the family. Guests,
however, simply could not help but notice the potential of the place as a
tourist destination. Several beach huts and a few rooms were
constructed upon suggestions.
The beach resort promptly gained the continued patronage of pleased clients. Yielding to the rapid rise in
demand and popularity, the resort expanded its amenities to cater to a now larger and more discriminating
clientele. The typical rooms-for-rent were soon replaced with deluxe units. The resort hotel presently boasts of
function rooms, dormitories and a penthouse. Apart from sports and recreational facilities, a pavilion bar and
restaurant and an adjacent outdoor music lounge complete the lot. A large swimming pool with water slides
and a kiddie pool recently added another feather to the cap of Dawal Beach Resort. And where the modest
beach huts used to stand, regal gazebos now mark the place where Dawal continues to awe its guests from all
over the world.

“Dawal” is taken from the name of Mr. Pascual “Dawal” Climaco Magsalin as a homage to a great
father who, in spite of extreme poverty and being orphaned at the age of six, endeavored and worked
as an agricultural helper, mason, horticulturist and ambulant vendor to raise and educate his eight
chidren with Mrs. Francisca Cabalquinto Magsalin until they all became successful in their chosen
professions. As a tribute to a noble father, this resort is wholeheartedly dedicated by his son, Atty.
Buenaventura “Tuy” Magsalin.

Only a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila, Dawal is a sanctuary where you can savor
the joys of la dolce vita. Let the magnificent mountains of the North, the serene seascape, and the spectacular
sunset take your breath away.
