Grade: 5 X 4 /20: Criteria Level 4 Level 3 Level 2 Level 1 Content

The rubric assesses spoken word poetry based on content, structure, language, voice, and body language. For each category, a score of 1-4 is given. A score of 4 indicates the highest level where the poem shows reflection on a clear theme, has an organized structure that lends itself to performance, uses poetic devices and rich language, and utilizes voice and body language effectively. A score of 1 is the lowest where the theme is unclear, structure and language are basic, and voice and body language are not used to enhance the performance.
