HOW TO PREPARE FOR TOEFL

In every standardized test, it’s the same story: the official practice material is the best material. Nobody
else makes practice exactly like the company who makes the real test. In this case, that’s ETS.

 Familiarize yourself with the test from ETS official guide for TOEFL and learn in general what
is included in Reading, Listening and Writing section.
 Next start reading section break down and learn what kind of questions are included and how to
tackle them. Learn the steps and tactics needed for the reading section from the TOEFL Note on
links below. and practice reading questions included in ETS book in section 2
 Learn listening sections in and outs from ETS book and Notes and practice ETS listening section
questions in section 3
 Get break down of Speaking Section Tasks and individual strategies.
 Work on writing section and learn all about Integrated and Independent essays. View samples
too.
 After learning strategies required for every individual questions and tasks, you need to practice
more
 First take the ETS TOEFL Sampler test, it free and judge where stand and cover deficiencies.
 Do practice from Cambridge CD for TOEFL is best for practice and complete its 3 tests initially.
 Now install ETS CD Rom and give it first TOEFL Test and find where you stand.
 Cover your deficiencies, if any and complete next 4 test of Cambridge TOEFL.
 At last give 2nd official ETS test and find where you stand.
 Now if have time go for BRUCE Roger TOEFL practice.
 If have further time, go for Barron’s practice.
 And if have further time you can practice Delta TOEFL books.
 Remember, during practice you have to practice speaking alot, speak a lot on any topic for I or
2 mints, record yourself and hear it, you will find how u speak, where you lack, where you are
making mistakes.
 With that try to write at least 10 independent essays and if possible you can give a native speaker,
Teacher, or friend to prof read you essays.
 Most importantly work on building vocabulary for TOEFL.
