VENTS AND VENTING
Section 901 — VENTS REQUIRED
Each plumbing fixture trap, except as otherwise provided in this Code,
shall be protected against siphonage and back-pressure, Air circulation shall
be assured throughout all parts of the exereta drainage system by means of
vent pipes installed in accordance with the requirements of this Chapter and
as required in this Code
Section 902 - VENTS NOT REQUIRED
902.1
#22
Where permitted by the Administrative Authority, vent piping may be
omitted on an interceptor when such interceptor acts as primary settling tanic
and discharges through a horizontal indirect waste pipe into a secondary
imerceptor. The second interceptor shall be properly tapped and vented
‘Traps serving sinks which are part of the equipment of bars, soda foustains
and counters need not be vented when the location and construction ¢ such
bars, soda fountains and counters is to make it impossible to do so, When
such conditions exist, said sink shall discharge by means of ap,roved
indirect waste pipe into a floor sink or other approved type receptor.
Section 903~ MATERIALS.
903.1
903.1.
03.1.2
Vent pipes shall be cast iron, ductile cast iron, galvanized stect, galvanized.
wrought iron, lead, copper, brass, Schedule 40, ABS, DWV, Series 1000,
PVC, DWV or other approved materials having 2 smooth and uniform bore
except that
No gelvanized wrought iron or galvanized steel pipe shall be uso!
underground and shall be kept at least 15 cm. above ground.
Horizontal and vertical vent lines and vent stacks shall be copper, cast iron,
galvanized wrought iron or polyvinyl chloride pipes.

steel, lead, copper, brass, ABS, PVC, or other approved material,
except that no galvanized malleable iron or galvanized steel fittings shall be
buried underground but shall be kept at least 152 mm above finish ground
level
Changes in direction of vent piping shall be made by the appropriate use of
approved fittings and no such pipe shall be strained or bent, Burred ent
shall be reamed to the full bore of the pipe
* Section 904 SIZE OF VENTS
904.1
‘The sizes of vent piping shalt be determined from its length and the tot)
number of fixture units connected thereto, as set forth in Table 7-5 of this
Code. In addition, the drainage piping of each building and eact
connections to a public sewer of a private sewage disposal system shall be
vented by means of one or more vent pipes, the aguregate cross-section
area of which shall not be less than that of the largest required building
sewer, as determined from Table 7-5, page 88.
Exception: When connected to. a common building sewer, the dréir
piping of two (2) or more buildings located on the same lot and under one
ownership may be vented by means of piping sized in accordance wis
Table 7-5 provided the aggregate cross-sectional area of all the vert is ng
less than that of the largest required common building sewer,
The length of horizontal portion of a vent may exceed one-third (1/5) oft
total length of vertical and horizontal portions as limited by Table 75
provided the vent is increased to one pipe size larger for its entire length,
** Section 905 ~ VENT PIPE GRADES AND CONNECTIONS,
905.1
905.2
All horizontat vent and. branch vent pipes shall be five from drops or sey
and each such vent shall be graded and connected to drip back by gravity y
the drainage pipe it serves.
Where vents connect to a horizontal drainage pipe, such vent pp,
connection shall have its invert taken off above the drainage centerline
such pipe downstream of the trap being served

Vents and Venting
Unless prohibited by structural conditions, each vent shall rise vertically to a
point not tess than 152.mm above the highest flood level rim of the fixtures
served before offsetting horizontally to join the vent stack or stack vent and
the bottom connection shall be installed with approved drainage fittings and
instatled with proper grade to the horizontal drain.
All vent pipes shall extend undiminished in size above the roof or shall be
reconnected with the soil or waste stack vent of proper size at a point below
the roof, the veut through the roof (VSTR) shall be increased one (1) pipe
size above the reconnection point of stack vent and horizontal vent
The vent pipe opening from a soit or waste pipe, except for water closets
and similar fixtures, shall not be below the weir of the wrap.
‘Two (2) fixtures may be served by a common vertical vent pipe when each
such fixture wastes separately into an approved double branch fitting having
inlet openings at the same level.
Section 906 — VENT ‘TERMINATION
906 1
906.2
906.3
Each vent pipe or stack through roof (SVTR) shall extend its flashing all
around and the stack vent shall terminate vertically not less than 15 om
above the roof nor less than 0.3 meter from any vertical surface nearby.
Each vent opening shall terminate not less than three (3) meters from, or at
least 0.9 meter above any openable window, door opening, air inteke or
vent shaft, nor less than 0.9 meter away from any tut line, alley and street
boundary lines
Vent pipes shall be extended separately or combined, of full required siz,
not fess than 15 em above the roof or fire wall. Flagpoling of vents is
probibited except where the roof is used for purposes other than weather
protection
Vertical vent pipes for outdoor instalfations shall extend to at least 3 meter
distant from any part of the roof that is used for other purposes end shalt
extend not less than 2.1 meter above such roof and shall be securely stayed
Joints at the roof around stack vent pipes shall be made watertight by the use
of approved flashing material and installation.

Section 907 — VENT STACKS AND RELIEF VENTS.
907.1
907.2
Each soil or waste stack which extends ten (10) or more stories above the
building drain shall be served by 2 parallel vent stack which shall extend
undiminished in size from its upper terminal at the roof end connect to the
soil or waste stack at ground fevel and at every fifth floor levels with «
“yoke vent” at a point below the horizontal soil or waste branch connection
to the stack and at the nearby vent stack above the same floor to provide a
relief vent. The size of yoke vent shall be not less in diameter than either
the soil stack or the vent stack, whichever is smaller.
‘The yoke vent connection with the vent stack shall be placed not less than
1.0 mieter above the fleor level, and the yoke vent connection with the
drainage stack shall be by means of a wye branch fitting placed below the
fixture beanch serving that floor
Section 998- Vents Not Required
908.1
908.2
Where permitted by the Administrative Authority, vent piping may be
omitted on an interceptor when such interceptor acts as a primary sctling
tank and discharges through a horizontal indirect waste pipe into 4
secondary interceptor. The second interceptor shall be properly trapped and
vented.
‘Traps serving sinks which are part of the equipment of bars, soda four
and counters, need not be vented when the location and construction of sug)
bars, soda fountains, and counters is to make it impossible to do so. Whey
such conditions exist, said sinks shall discharge by means of cpproved
indirect waste pipes inté a floor sink or other approved type receptor.
