Music Project

The document summarizes different cell membrane transport processes and provides examples of songs that illustrate each process. It describes diffusion as the movement of particles from high to low concentration, facilitated diffusion as movement across the membrane with protein help, osmosis as water diffusion through a selectively permeable membrane, active transport as movement against a concentration gradient with energy help, and bulk active transport as movement of large molecules in and out of cells.

The Phospholipid Bilayer - The phospholipid bilayer consists of two layers of phospholipids, with
a hydrophobic, or water-hating, interior and a hydrophilic, or water-loving, exterior.
The Siamese Cat Song shows this by showing two alike things, liking different things.

Diffusion - Movement of any particles from an area of higher concentration to one of lower
concentration.
The Circle of Life shows this by showing that everything lives in equilibrium.

Facilitated Diffusion - the movement of molecules across a membrane with the help of proteins.
I Can Go the Distance shows this by showing that with time (proteins) he will make it.

Osmosis - Diffusion of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane

How Far I’ll Go shows this by Moana being the water trying to get across the membrane (sand)
to the other side (Ocean).

Active Transport - the movement of ions or molecules across a cell membrane into a region of
higher concentration, assisted by enzymes and requiring energy.
I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) shows this by Meg not wanting to accept her feelings, so the gospel
choir gives her a little nudge (energy).

Bulk Active Transport - the transport of very large molecules in and out of the cell
God Help the Outcasts shows this by Esmeralda wishing a big group of people good luck.
