Means
Means needed for the realisation of the workshop are:
● Space/Classroom
● Computers
● Internet Connection
● Projector

Preparation
Prior to Workshop sessions, Instructor will have to:
● Build an example wordpress theme, Personal Webpage ( HOME: header, banner,
articles, footer).

Desired skills
● HTML - Coding will be done on top of preexisting HTML, so it’s important to have a
sense of it
● PHP - Wordpress code is PHP based, so we will code using PHP and WordPress
specific functions. We will not go through PHP syntax explicitly.
● CSS, JS - Will be part of the code, but we will not directly work with it

Outcomes

● Learn WordPress basic concepts,
● Develop a basic Wordpress theme: Personal website / online resume

3. What is a web server and database server (HOST)?
4. What is a client?
5. What is wordpress?
6. Why Wordpress?
7. Navigate some sites that use WordPress.
8. Drawbacks?

2nd Day

Wordpress CMS walkthrough


1. What is a theme?
2. Run LOCAL SERVER
3. Set up database
4. Install WordPress
5. Run LOCAL SERVER
6. Login, open site in localhost
7. Explore theme: Posts, Pages, Media, Appearance, Comments, Editor and other screens

3d Day

Theme development part 1


1. Explore file structure
2. Create the required files
3. Code basic functions
4. Header
5. Footer
6. Functions customize (Header color, Title, Subtitle, Menus)

4th Day

Theme development part 2 3h


1. What is a plugin?
2. Install ACF plugin

1. Students will be asked to build a page of their choice.
