Esc201: Introducton To Electronics: Dept. of Electrical Engineering Iit Kanpur

1) Transfer functions relate the input and output of a linear system in the frequency domain. 2) For a simple RC circuit, the transfer function is H(jω) = 1/(1+ jωRC). The magnitude plot has a slope of -20dB/decade after the corner frequency ω3dB = 1/RC. 3) Adding more RC stages creates a transfer function with multiple breakpoints, resulting in a magnitude plot that decreases more rapidly (e.g. -40dB/decade) at higher frequencies.
