MV-101 Solar Blind UV Datasheet

The MV-101 is a compact ultraviolet (UV) imager that detects wavelengths from 225nm to 285nm with high optical rejection of wavelengths above 300nm, making it truly solar-blind. It has a high resolution 1kx1k sensor that operates at 120 frames per second. Originally designed to detect muzzle flashes from guns at long distances, the MV-101 has applications in military, commercial, and research areas involving UV detection. It integrates a UV photomultiplier tube, proprietary solar blind filter, and digital readout sensor into a small package suitable for integration into larger systems.

MV-101 Solar Blind UV Imager

• Spectrum from 225nm to 285nm

• High Resolution (1kx1k), high frame rate (120fps)
• High optical rejection (>10 OD) from 300nm to 700nm
• Compact size with C-Mount lens holder
• Ideal camera for OEM implementation
The MV-101 is an ultra-compact UV imager composed of a UV-enhanced photomultiplier tube intensifier, a
proprietary solar blind filter, and a high resolution, high frame rate imager. The spectral response of the
MV-101 ranges from 225nm to 285nm, with transmittance less than 1e-10 for wavelengths greater than 300
nm, ensuring true solar-blind performance during daylight operation.

Original designed for the U.S. Army to detect the muzzle flash of an AK-47 from a distance of 300m to 1000m
away, the MV-101 can be used for both military and commercial applications, including the detection of
corona and arcing events. It can also be used for target tracking, military vehicle safeguarding, and monitor-
ing of optical coating deposition. This is only a brief list with new applications being discovered at a rapid
pace.

The MV-101 is an ideal camera for OEM implementation, and can easily be extended into a multiple camera
system as well as be combined with other cameras, such as infrared and visible light, to form multi-spectral
imaging systems.

M-101
Solar Blind UV Imager

Our Advantages
• True solar blind performance

• High quantum efficiency

• C-mount for any COTS UV lens

• Ready for imager integration

• High frame rate for tracking

Typical Applications
The above image is a frame captured
• Corona and arc detection by the MV-101 at a shooting range in
1997. The camera was operating at
• Electrical Discharge 30 fps, utilizing a 45deg FOV UV
lens, and positioned 300 meters
• Hydrogen Gas Fires for Petrochemical away from an AK-47. A single UV
flash per bullet was captured and
• Military Vehicle Safeguarding recorded without missing a single
bullet. Since then, Delta Commercial
• Plasma Assisted Optical Coating Vision has improved the camera
frame rate to 120 fps.
