Freelander 2 is designed to put the
driver in control. Land Rover’s renowned
command driving position is an intrinsic
part of the vehicle’s design.
It improves the view of the road ahead and gives better visibility
of the vehicle’s front corners, which helps with manoeuvring and
parking in urban environments. The driver’s seat is also optimised
for comfort and support with six-way adjustment as standard
(electric operation with three memory settings is available) and
the steering wheel can be adjusted for rake and reach ensuring
that you can set the position that is right for you.

Added power, performance and torque. Improved economy. Reduced
emissions. Freelander 2 is now available with two new, highly efficient
diesel power units. Both engines feature a new turbocharger, which
delivers improved response, offer a useful extra 20Nm of torque and
are 2dB quieter than the outgoing engine.
The new 2.2 litre 150PS Diesel engine, fitted to eD4 and TD4 models, delivers both improved CO2 emissions
and better economy compared to the previous model. And now, for those customers who want the advantages
of Freelander 2’s command driving position, class-leading ground clearance, 2,000kg braked towing capacity
and great interior flexibility, but don’t require the ultimate in 4x4 capability, Freelander 2 will also be available
as a two wheel drive vehicle – badged eD4 – from early 2011.
An improved, intelligent Stop/Start system is fitted to all eD4 and TD4 diesel manual models. This enhances
fuel efficiency and reduces tailpipe emissions to zero, by shutting down the engine, in appropriate conditions,
when the vehicle comes to a stop. The system can now operate at temperatures as low as 0°C and has
a 30 percent quicker re-start time.
The enhancements made to the powertrain mean that fuel economy and CO2 emissions are improved
on all diesel models. For example, eD4 models deliver fuel economy of 47.2mpg* on the combined cycle
with 158g/km of CO2 – improvements of 10.4 percent and 11.7 percent respectively.

The new 2.2 litre SD4 Diesel engine produces 190PS and 420Nm of torque – and is fitted as standard with
an updated six-speed automatic transmission with CommandShift®. The improvements to the powertrain
delivers a 0-60mph time of 8.7 seconds - almost two seconds quicker than the unit it replaces. But the gain
in performance is not at the expense of economy and CO2 emissions. Delivering 40.4mpg on the combined
cycle with 185g/km of CO2 the SD4 is better by 11.4 percent and 13.6 percent respectively than the outgoing
engine. Freelander 2 is packed with innovative technology that helps save fuel.

There are large disc brakes all round, which, on the front are reverse vented to improve thermal stability under

A joint £800m investment into new technologies designed to reduce CO2 emissions and improve fuel consumption. We are targeting a
25 percent reduction in joint fleet average tailpipe CO2 emissions within the next five years. Beginning with an intelligent Stop/Start
system on Freelander 2 diesel manual, followed by Intelligent Power Systems Management (IPSM) with Smart regenerative braking on all
Discovery 4, Freelander 2 and Range Rover vehicles, to the announcement of our new compact Range Rover, e_TERRAIN TECHNOLOGIES
form a fundamental part of our carbon management plan.

SuSTAINABLE mANufACTuRING. uSING fEwER RESOuRCES ANd CREATING LESS wASTE

World class manufacturing facilities, certified to ISO14001 since 1998. As a company we are targeting a 25 percent reduction in operating
CO2 emissions by 2012, 25 percent in waste to landfill and 10 percent in water consumption, based off 2007 levels. Going forward we are
measuring our total operating carbon footprint and setting targets to reduce it; since 2006 this integrated approach has included the
carbon offset of all manufacturing assembly CO2 emissions from our Solihull and Halewood plants. But it doesn’t stop there. Every new
vehicle is designed to be 95 percent recoverable and reusable – with 85 percent that’s recyclable and a further 10 percent that can be
used to generate energy.
In 2009, we reduced our CO2 emissions by 26,550 tonnes, water
consumption by 192,000m3 and 1,300 tonnes to landfill

 CO2 OFFSETTING. INvESTING IN rENEwablE ENErGy, TEChNOlOGy ChaNGE aNd ENErGy EFFICIENCy prOjECTS
For every tonne of CO2 emitted during the manufacturing assembly of all our vehicles, Land Rover invests in carbon reduction projects that
reduce an equivalent tonne of CO2 elsewhere. In addition, we enable our customers to offset their first 45,000 miles/72,000 km of driving in
their new vehicles. We do this in the UK as well as countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Independently administered by ClimateCare
and governed by a body of climate change experts, CO2 offsetting allows us to take action now, to reduce our impact on the environment as
part of our integrated carbon management plan.

Land Rover currently has 19 emissions reduction Our customers in the Middle East have contributed over $1,650,000
projects in our plan to offset approximately to this target since October 2008...
2,500,000 tonnes of CO2 by 2012...
We have three Gold Standard projects in the portfolio: energy

has actively promoted responsible off-road driving the IFRC entitled ‘Reaching Vulnerable People around the World’
since 1990... through which Land Rover aims to support IFRC’s life saving work.
