SWIFT Field and Name Description and Format


20 Sender’s Reference M Sending bank’s reference. Also referred to as TRN.

23B Bank Operation Code This field identifies the type of operation.

Deutsche Bank NY accepts the code word CRED.

23E Instruction Code This field specifies an instruction.

50 Ordering Customer M Identifies the originating customer.


Two options can be used, Option A or K. For Option A, the account number is first,
followed by the BEI or the Business Entity Identifier, which is a corporate BIC. Option K,
which is more common, is to give the account number followed by the name and address.

52 Ordering Bank O Identifies the bank that is ordering the transaction, when different from the sending bank.

53 Sender’s Correspondent Bank Identifies the debit account, when different from the sending bank.

If the Sender has no direct relationship with Deutsche Bank NY, use the SWIFT BIC of a
Branch that does have a direct account (Option A). If the Sender has another account
* Use only one identifier per field directly with Deutsche Bank, state the account number preceded by a single / (Option B).

54 Receiver’s Correspondent Identifies the Bank that will be sending cover funds through the local clearing to
Bank O reimburse the Receiving Bank of this MT103.

56 Intermediary Bank Identifies the bank through which funds must pass if the Account With Bank (57) or the
O Beneficiary (59) does not maintain a direct account relationship with Deutsche Bank NY.
If Field 57 is present and if the bank stated in Field 57 is not a direct US Dollar clearing
bank, their USD correspondent must be stated in Field 56. Banks can be identified in this
field by any of the following:
OPTION A: SWIFT BIC (8-11 alpha-numeric characters)
OPTION D: //CP (4 digit CHIPS Participant Number). For example //CP0103
//FW (9 digit Fedwire Routing Number). For example //FW021001033
/ Deutsche Bank Account Number. For example /12345678
* To identify the appropriate intermediary bank, use the Payment Services Guide located
at http://www.db.com/gcm/services/psg

If Field 56 is present, Field 57 must also be present and must contain a bank identified by
SWIFT BIC or CHIPS Universal Identifier (UID).
* Use only one identifier per field

57 Beneficiary Bank Identifies the bank where the beneficiary has an account. Also referred to as BBK or
O Beneficiary Bank. Depending upon its clearing and correspondent relationships, the bank
stated in this field can be identified by any of the following:
If BBK is a direct USD Clearing participant (Field 56 will NOT be present):
OPTION A: SWIFT BIC (8-11 alpha-numeric characters)
OPTION D: //CP (4 digit CHIPS Participant Number). For example //CP0103
//FW (9 digit Fedwire Routing Number). For example //FW021001033

If BBK does not maintain an account with Deutsche Bank, NY and is not a direct USD
clearing bank, BBK maintains an account with USD clearing bank (Field 56 WILL be
present in this case ):
OPTION A: SWIFT BIC (8-11 alpha-numeric characters)
OPTION D: //CH (6 digit CHIPS Universal Identifier). For example //CH090400

If BBK has a direct account relationship with Deutsche Bank, NY (Field 56 will NOT be
present):
OPTION A: SWIFT BIC (8-11 alpha-numeric characters)
* Use only one identifier per field OPTION D: / Deutsche Bank Account Number (8 digits) with name and location

59 Beneficiary Customer Identifies the ultimate beneficiary.

If Field 56 and/or Field 57 are NOT used, then the beneficiary must have an account with

70 D e t a i l s o f P a ym e n t The information contained in this field is passed to the beneficiary of the payment. When
O possible the code word /RFB/ should be used followed by a maximum 16 character
reference.

71A Details of Charges Use either of the following SWIFT Code words:

· BEN – charges are to be covered by the beneficiary through a deduction from the
amount paid.
· OUR - charges are to be covered by the originator
· SHA - charges on the Sender's side are to be borne by the ordering customer,
transaction charges on the Receiver's side are to be borne by the beneficiary
customer through a deduction from the amount paid.

72 Bank to Bank Information SWIFT Code words within single slashes must precede the information in this field. See
O below for list of acceptable code words. Double slashes are required to indicate the
continuation on a new line.

CODEWORD DESCRIPTION

/INT/ Instructions are for the Intermediary in Field 56 of your message.

/ACC/ Instructions are for the Account With Bank in Field 57 of your message. If the beneficiary maintains an account with a
Branch of the Beneficiary Bank (indicated in Field 57), that does not have a direct clearing account with a US Dollar
Correspondent (indicated in Field 56), that Branch should be stated in this field preceded by the code word /ACC/.

/INS/ Used to identify the Instructing Institution. If different from the sender, this party would usually be found in Field 52. This
code word should be used to identify a third instructing institution.

/IBK/ Identifies the intermediary bank and is followed by a SWIFT BIC. Used when 56 is not available or possibly in four party
payments.

/DFP/ or If you are registered for our Deduct from Proceeds product, by stating the term /DEDUCT/ or /DFP/ in this field, our charges
/DEDUCT/ will be deducted from the proceeds paid to the final beneficiary bank. Use only if you are registered for this service.

/CHEQUE/ If registered for our SWIFT to Cheque service, a check will be paid to the beneficiary party residing in the US (the
instruction must include full name and address of the beneficiary in Field 59).

/REC/ Instructions are for Deutsche Bank NY. The information following the code word will be disregarded and will not result in
repair. However, this code word is not recommended as it can possibly result in an operator intervention with the next party
in the chain of your payment.

Deutsche Bank NY honors the above highlighted code words, others may be ignored or rejected.
