1. Write down your plans in the future and then share them
with your class.

2. Tina works hard in a shop at Begumpet. She has to get up early. She is
saving up for her holiday, so she stays in every night. Next week she is going
on holiday with three friends. She will be in Goa for two weeks.
This is what Tina says about her holiday plans:

“I’ll get up late, I’ll relax by the beach, I’ll


get a tan, I’ll eat out every night, I’ll forget
about work and I’ll enjoy myself.”

Now complete the below table using the information in the passages above
about Tina’s life. Make your own sentences using the present and future
tenses, as in the examples.

Present Future
This week Tina is in Hyderabad. Next week she will be in Goa/Next
week she’ll be in Goa.

When you are done, say your sentences aloud in the class.

Linda: Let us talk a little bit about your future! What are your plans?
Brian: I am going to become a doctor.
Linda: Great! And what are you going to do after that?
Brian: Afterwards, I am going to work in a hospital in England.
Linda: And are you going to stay in London?
Brian: Perhaps I will go back to Germany. Only time will tell. I would
like to have family.
Linda: Really?
Brian: Yeah, why not? Hahahaha. And you?
Linda: If you like, then I will tell you now about my feelings and plans!
Brian: I would like to hear them! Tell me.
Linda: If I had the chance to do everything again, I would just do it
again. But if I had studied, I would have studied medicine or
law. If I stay here in London, I will marry a nice young man. If I
had the choice, we would have a big family.
Brian: You are very honest and open, that is great.
Linda: If I say something, I always mean it.
Brian: And if I listen, I can always keep a secret.
Linda: I hope so! Because if you couldn’t, I would tear your head off.
Hahahaha.
Brian: Oh look, the waiter is coming!
Linda: We would like the fish and the best wine you have!

Grammar Review:

Future with Will :

There are two basic future tenses used to describe things that happen in
the future. Besides these two there are some other future tenses which can
be started on the advanced future tenses page. The first future tense is
the future with 'will'. Use the future with will to talk about an event in the
future that you have just decided to do, for predictions and for promises.

I think I'll go to that party next week.


The economy will get better soon.
Yes, I will marry you.

Future with Going to:


The future with 'going to' is used to express events you have already
planned in the future and your intentions for the future. We sometimes also
use the present continuous for planned events in the near future.

She's going to attend university and study to become a doctor.


We're going to make the presentation next week.

Positive
Subject + will + verb

Negative
Subject + will + not (won't) + verb

Positive
