I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson pupils will be able to:
a. be able to identify the subject-verb agreement in a sentence; and
b. identify the linking and verb form used in a sentence.

II. Subject Matter


Subject Verb Agreement
Materials: audio-video clips, worksheets, sentence strips
Reference: Joy in Learning English, page 105-106

III. Procedure

A. Pre-Lesson Assessment of  Teacher will ask pupils to watch a video.


Target Skill/s  Teacher will post/write the sentences on the
board which were shown in the video.
 Teacher will reiterate the linking verb and
verb form used in sentences.
 Teacher will point out the rule in subject verb
agreement.

B. Introduction  Teacher will categorized the linking verbs for


singular and plural subjects; as well as the
verb form used in the sentence.

Singular Plural
Linking verb is, am, was are, were
Verb form -s form base form

C. Teaching / Modeling (I Do Linking verbs is, am and was are used for

Example: I am happy to see you.
Linda plays luksong baka.
Mother is also a teacher.

What are the linking verbs used for singular


subject? am, is, -s form of the verb for present
tense and was for past tense.

Linking verbs such as are and were are used for


plural subject. The base form of the verb is also
used.
Example: Julie and Mhac are friends.
We were in Ilocos last month.
They sing until morning.

What is the linking verb used for plural subject?

D. Guided Practice (We Do It) Let us answer the worksheet. Remember the rule
that you need to observe:
