Post Facto Law & Impairment of Contract) 2 Remedial Statutes 3 Curative

This document discusses legal periods and exceptions to retroactivity. It defines legal periods as years being 365 days, months being 30 days, days being 24 hours, and nights being from sunset to sunrise. When computing a period, the first day is excluded and the last day is included. A revised code also defines a year as 12 calendar months and a month as 30 days unless referring to a specific calendar month. Exceptions to retroactivity include when a law expressly allows it, remedial statutes, curative statutes, and interpretive statutes. Waiver is defined as the voluntary relinquishment of a known legal right, which must be unequivocal and cannot contradict certain laws.
