1. Make General Check on DB (Integrity task performs internal

consistency check of the data and index pages with in the data base)

2. Reorganize Index & update Statistics (Check Index and make

rebuild and reorganize according to the fragmentation, reorganizes

data on the data and index pages by rebuilding indexes this improve

performance of index scan and seeks )

3. Backup (log , differential ,Full)

4. History Clean up (Delete historical data about backup and restore ,

server agent , maintenance plan operation )


5. Maintenance Backup (Remove files left over from executing a

maintenance plan )

6. Check Cost Query

We checked the top 20 costly query and after analysis the executions plan of

the costly queries we got that the remote DB connections have their effects

on the query performance . we used Dynamic Management Views (DMV’s):

6.1. sys.dm_exec_query_stats

Returns performance statistics for cached query plans. This

contains one row per query plan so if a stored procedure or batch

contains two SELECT statements you may get two rows here

6.2. sys.dm_exec_sql_text

Returns the text of the sql statement based on the SQL handle

6.3. sys.dm_exec_query_plan

Returns the showplan in XML format for a batch or module based

on the plan handle. we send statistics to ZULFICAR mail )

7. Solve Trigger problem( Problem that there was an error occurred after

insert trigger , and we traced this problem by our logic and we could

successfully handle the issue )

4. Disable unused web sites on IIS

5. Recommended to remove remote DB connections ( linked server ) like

connection between Retainer & Pclaw , use trigger instead or

replication

6. There two full back up plans (IT tracking - Printer Monitor backup plan)

scheduled to run in the same time and this not Recommended

7. Add indexes in tables according to Cost Query performance

8. Transfer the database to a Disaster Recovery Plan like fail over clustering .

9. Open mail port so that we can receive mail from the database Maintenance
