FORMATTING ACTIVITY 1 INSTRUCTIONS

1. Open the word processing application.


2. Type the following document as accurately as possible.

Mandeville

Mandeville is located on the Manchester plateau 2000 feet above sea level. Mandeville
can be described as a mountain resort. It was built in1816 and is located in Jamaica 64
miles (103 km) from the capital Kingston.

Its early nineteenth century English style houses and winding streets, take you on a trip
back in history. The town square, parish church and clock tower lend to the rustic
charm of this beautiful town.

3. Bold and underline the heading.


4. Underline every occurrence of the word Mandeville in the document.
5. Change the font size of the heading to 18 pts.
6. Change the font type of the entire document to Arial.
7. Change the font color of the word Jamaica to red.
8. Italicize the word Kingston.
9. Save the document as Mandeville and your name inside your folder.
10. Close the document.

FORMATTING ACTIVITY 2 INSTRUCTIONS

1. Open the word processing application.


2. Type the following document as accurately as possible.

Honesty is the Best Policy

On the way to school two boys found a wallet at the side of the road. Opening it they
found several hundred US dollars and BD dollars, a platinum visa card, an ID card and a
few other important documents. They first hesitated whether to take it to their teacher,
the police or share the money between themselves. With much deliberation they chose to
take it to their teacher, who informed the Principal. The owner was contacted and the two
boys were richly rewarded. The media openly thanked the boys for their honesty. This
exercise was highlighted to the nation making them heroes. They received gifts from the
Ministry of Education and various business men.

3. Format the heading in bold.


4. Change the color of the words Ministry of Education.
5. Change the font size of the heading to 20 pts.
6. Underline the words US dollars, BD dollars, platinum Visa Card, ID card and a few other
important documents.
7. Italicize the sentence “The exercise was highlighted to the nation making them heroes”,
and change the font.
8. Save the document as Honesty is the Best Policy.
9. Close the document.

1. Open the word processing application.


2. Type the following document as accurately as possible.

Carnival 2003 in Trinidad and Tobago

Tuesday is normally Pretty Mass Day. Bands are displayed in all their colourful glory.
People jump to the calypso music while spectators enjoy the beauty before them. One band
named Poison had as many as six thousand plus revellers. As they played their mass many
revellers shouted “Mass Sweet Mass.”

It began on J’ouvert morning at 4.00 am on Monday 03 February. Rrevellers dressed in old


ragged clothes, some playing mud mass or playing humorous characters while others beat
drums, sticks or bottles, jumping on the streets making their own rhythm.

3. Copy the last sentence of the first paragraph to the end of the second paragraph.
4. Format the heading in bold and underline it.
5. Change the color of the phrase within quotes and italicize it.
6. Cut the second paragraph and place it immediately under the heading.
7. Spell-check the document.
8. Save the document as Carnival 2003.
9. Close the document.

My Daring Dad

One night, when we were about to go to bed, we heard a great big crash. On
investigating, we found that there’d been an accident between two cars in front of our
house. My dad assisted the injured occupants of the vehicles while we called for the
E.H.S. and the police. The ambulance arrived within minutes and removed the accident
victims to the hospital. The Health Attendant and the police thanked my dad for his
daring and speedy response. I was very proud of my dad.
3. Double underline the heading and center justify it.
4. Apply the following effects.
1. Use the outline effect on the heading.
2. Double strikethrough E.H.S. and enter the following “Emergence Response Unit
(E.R.U.).”
3. Emboss the words Health Attendant.
4. Engrave the words my dad throughout the document.
5. Save the document as My Daring Dad.
6. Close the document.
