Ref: Your 0.0. letter No.E(W}2010/UN-1/10 dated 16.10.2012 Reference above, the suggestions sought for vide your above cited letter addressed to the CPOs of all the ‘Zonal Railways and Production Units and copy docketed to this office, are being collected from the grassroots and ‘we have since forwarded the same to our affiiated unions seeking their comments thereon, Since this is a very important issue involving the uniform and protective clothing being supplied to different categories of the Railway employees who are already entitled for the same under the Dress Regulation 2004, as also to cover addtional categories of staff under the purview of Dress Regulation, it would be quite appropriate that we collect the views of our field unions so as to consolidate the same for onward submission to the Railway Board. Our field unions are working on this and studying the issue in depth in consultation with the staff to obtain ther valuable views. AIRF is broadly of the considered opinion that the categories to which the uniformiprotective garments are being supplied; those should be of branded cloth only. It would be further in the interest of the employees that they are supplied with the coupons to collect the ‘loth for the uniform from some branded cloth mill outlets so as to avoid dissatisfaction! discontentment on this account. In our opinion all the Railway staff whose clothing gets diy/spoil while performing railway duties must be covered under the purview of entitement of uniform. Detailed para-wise reply of the above referred 0.O. letter shall, however, follow as early as possible after collecting the views of our feld unions.
