VOLUNTEER CERTIFICATE COURSE


By Indian Association of Palliative Care

Anwar Memorial Pain and Palliative Care Society, supported by the Indian Red Cross Society,
Aluva Branch and Kerala Action Force, started its operations in August 2002.

The Outpatient Clinic and the Inpatient Unit are housed at Aluva, near the banks of the River
Periyar in Ernakulam District, Kerala State, India.

Its main objectives are:

To provide the best quality of life to the patients with incurable diseases, bed-ridden and Geriatric
problems
To assist in the rehabilitation of the patients and their families
To impart training to palliative care providers
To encourage effective community intervention in palliative care activities
To provide Home Care Service
To provide free ambulance service
To organize early cancer detection camps in the rural areas
To organize awareness campaigns to popularize palliative care among the local community

AMC intends to commence field work practicum for the benefit of palliative care volunteers,
Social Workers, Physiotherapists, other health care workers and those who are interested in
associating with palliative care activities in the district.

AMC has designed a comprehensive syllabus, an action plan and protocol for this training
programme focussed on patient care.

The duration of the course is ​ONE month. The details of the programme will be published in the
website separately. The course includes sessions on palliative care as approved by the Indian
Association of Palliative Care.
