Program Educational Objectives

The Civil Engineering graduates will;

 Course Description

The practicum (on-the-job trianing) is one of the requirements to finish the 5-year
degree course of Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. This is the opportunity for
them to acquire practical or hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering.

Program Outcome

Upon completion of the program, the Civil Engineering students will demonstrate:

SO 1 Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility

SO 2 Ability to use techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for
engineering practice.

Course Outcome

CO 1 An ability to apply the theoretical knowledge in actual civil engineering practices.

Hour Requirements & Training Schedules

The students are require to render 216 hours for the completion of the training.
This is regulary offered every summer of the Academic Year. In reverence to the safety
of the Civil Engineering student-trainee, the training shall be performed during daytime
only. However, if the student-trainee is required to render overtime works and be
assigned outside the premises of the Host Establishment, they must inform the OJT
Facilitator of the Institute of Computing and Engineering. Then the Facilitator will inform
their parents/guadrians if they will approve or not before the student-trainee y will be
allowed to do so.

PRE-REQUISITE TO ENROLL OJT

No student may be allowed to enroll CE 165 or OJT/Practicum if she/he haven’t

passed all the subjects in the first three years.
 PRE DEPLOYMENT ACTIVITIES

The students who will qualify to enroll the OJT/Practicum and were able to complete
the registration process, the following proceedings will be observed:

a.) Psychological test and Medical Examination test must be completed (as per
requierement from the Office of the Student Director)
b.) Must have with him/her his/her own training manual. Personal Information page
must be filled up.
c.) Permits and waiver must be duly signed by the parents/guardian allowing them
to undergo practicum.
d.) Orientation will be conducted by the OJT/Practicum facilitator of the Program to
prepare the students for the training and their parents/guardians for them to be
aware of the policies and the conduct of OJT.

 MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:

This MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT is made and entered into.

BY and between

The INSTITUTE OF COMPUTING AND ENGINEERING of DAVAO ORIENTAL STATE

COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, hereinafter referred to as ICE-DOSCST,
an institute of this state institution of higher learning which is governed by its own charter,
located at Guang-guang, Mati, Davao Oriental represented herein by its president, DR. EDITO
B. SUMILE.

And

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIGHWAYS, hereinafter referred to as DPWH,

a government entity Matiao, City of Mati, Province of Davao Oriental, represented herein by its
district Engineer ENGR.

WITNESSETH

WHEREAS, both parties support/ adhere to the Commission of Higher Education MEMO # 23
s. 2009 requires the establishment of MOA between Host Training Establishment and Higher
Education Institution ( HEIs).

WHEREAS, ICE-DOSCST is mandated to offer Science and Technology programs particularly

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE), that will cater relevant courses needed by the
engineering and other related firms;

WHEREAS, ICE-DOSCST possesses the technic al expertise and manpower to offer relevant
courses particularly CE 165 (Practicum) in the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE)
that will cater relevant courses needed by the engineering and other related firms;

WHEREAS, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS is mandated to prepare

various plans, implement and supervise district infrastructures projects;

WHEREAS, DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS has technical

personnel, tools and equipments and manpower to prepare plans, implement and supervise
different infrastructures projects.

WHEREAS, the status of the student while on training shall be that of a student trainee, and not
employer-employee relationship.
WHEREAS, the student trainee agrees further to observe the rules and regulations of the above
training agency and abide with all implied stated terms and conditions as stipulated in the
Memorandum of Agreement.

WHEREAS, the waiver hereto attached becomes the part of this memorandum of agreement.

NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises the parties mutually agree on the
following:

ARTICLE I
SCOPE

This Memorandum of Agreement shall cover the implementation of the various activities and
programs that promote and provide skills development training through CE 165 (Practicum)
BSCE students, regardless of their religion, tradition and culture. ICE-DOSCST and
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS shall jointly implement Practicum
program and activities through the following:

1. DOSCST ICE faculty members shall provide programs to develop the student’s technical
knowledge and skills relevant to the engineering and other related agency needs.

2. Documentations of all engagement related to the implementation of the Practicum program

hereto agreed as evidence of effective and efficient partnership between ICE-DOSCST and
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS.

ARTICLE II
OBLIGATION OF THE PARTIES

A. The Institute of Computing and Engineering of Davao Oriental State College of Science and
Technology (DOSCST) thru its Practicum Facilitator Shall:

1. Look for/ negotiate with the different engineering or any related agency/industry where
he can field his students for Practicum.

2. Visit cooperating agency to monitor student’s activities at least twice a month.

3. Shall consolidate/ evaluate student’s performance and submit the grades to the registrar at
the end of the program.
B. The DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS shall:

1. Provide skills training to the students undergoing Practicum in consonance with the civil
engineering courses.

2. Progress students while on practicum from one job to another in order to experience in all
of the operation and duties.
 3. May provide the student such allowance and other benefits as may deem necessary.

4. Agrees to make report thru its assign personnel to the Practicum Facilitator during his
visit to the places/ where the student is assigned;

5. Thru its assigned personnel shall evaluate student’s performance and submit the same to
the Practicum Facilitator at the end of the Practicum Period.

6. Issue certificate of involvement to the Practicum Facilitator/ for student’s certificate of

completion upon completion of the Practicum.

ARTICLE III
REVISION CLAUSE

Any Parties may cause revision of amendment of this Memorandum of Agreement through a
formal letter duly conformed both parties.

ARTICLE IV
EFFECTIVITY

This Memorandum of Agreement shall take effect on the date of its signing and shall continue to
be in full force for (5) five years, unless revoked by agreement of the parties. A written
notice shall be sent to any party regarding revision/ amendments done to this MOA. Existing
program and activities however, shall continue to be governed by a corresponding Memorandum
of Agreement, if any, unless modified or revoked in the manner provided herein as prescribed by
the law.
ARTICLE V
EVALUATION AND ASSESMENT OF ACTIVITIES

The ICE-DOSCST and DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AND HIHGWAYS shall set
up evaluation and assessment system “50-50 grading system” needed to ensure and sustain the
success of their cooperative efforts.

Submission of evaluation/ assessment report shall be done upon completion of the Practicum
period basis to provide a feedback mechanism to improve the students’ performance and delivery
of services under this memorandum.

 ARTICLE VI
MISCELLENEOUS PROVISIONS

1. Both parties recognize that all results of the undertakings subject of this Memorandum of
Agreement are products of their joint efforts and cooperation and such both parties be
accorded full acknowledgement therefore.

2. Both parties shall subject to their respective mandates and authorities, execute and sign
whatever documents, papers and instruments necessary and proper to implement this
Memorandum of Agreement.

3. In case of any disagreement regarding this Memorandum of Agreement, the parties hereto
shall exert their best effort to settle it.

4. The parties, if necessary, shall consult each other on all mutual interest implementation of
any program covered by this Memorandum of Agreement.
