A complete solution giving
you the benefit of increased
efficiency.
Talus 200E is the key to implementing
efficient, reliable and cost effective
distribution systems.
The compact Ringmaster offers additional benefits when used in
conjunction with Talus 200E telecontrol cabinets.

Today’s situation
MV distribution networks incur the largest single source of supply
interruptions. The operation of the secondary network traditionally
relies on manual operation where faults are reported to the utility
by consumers or systems in the primary substation. The primary
substation only indicates when an entire feeder is disconnected
and not the fault location. To reconfigure a manually operated
system is time consuming and requires physical inspection of the
network. Talus 200E helps solve this, because it allows users to Talus 200E
manage a distribution network from a remote central point. Talus
200E provides the necessary interface between control centres and
the Ringmaster installation.

Tomorrow’s solutions
The Talus system monitors and controls
the status of the equipment and
communicates the information back to
either the primary substations or control
room. By using this remote operation, the
fault location and network reconfiguration is
completed with minimal down time and no
manual operation. This improves the
quality of supply and reduces network
operating costs.

Merlin Gerin offers the total solution for a

one stop package by integrating Talus
200E within the distribution automation and
management systems. This means that
specifying is made simple, and there is
only one source and one contact from
initial ordering to after sales service for the
complete system.

VIP Protection relays
self-powered reliability
VIP 300 - the leading protection relay providing a wide
range of selectivity and quality of supply.
The VIP 300 is a three phase overcurrent and earth fault protection device, providing
protection for networks and equipment. Being an integral part of the highly successful
Ringmaster range, its main function is to detect phase and earth faults within the network
and to trip the circuit breaker.

Flexibility
The relay provides for a wide range of
protection settings for most applications.
The IDMT characteristics employed for both
the overcurrent and earth fault elements
can be easily adjusted to provide
discrimination with upstream MV and
downstream LV protective devices. Fast
power - up of the VIP 300 also provides
immediate protection and can detect faults
instructing the CB to trip in less than 40ms.

Reliability
The relay has a self monitoring device and
diagnostic routine which constantly checks
the operation of the relay automatically.

The VIP 30 and VIP 35 are self-powered devices, requiring no
external DC power source or batteries. They are designed for use
in distribution networks providing protection for transformers.

VIP 30 provides protection against phase-to-phase faults.
